ATRL rates are a lot more free-range compared to other forums I joined. Songlists rarely pass 80+ songs while on ATRL I've rated the entirety of Madonna and Mariah's discographies all in one rate.

There were Supremes and Whitney discography rates that I missed? Yet 2 of my favourites won anyway (You Keep Me Hangin' On and All the Man that I Need)

I'm thinking of doing a single album rate for an upcoming anniversary.

Maybe add all unreleased tracks and remixes from the era also to pad it out

I've never hosted one before but these are a few ideas I have

• Star Spangled Banner rate - ranking the best to worst renditions

• Michelle Williams Unexpected album 18 year anniversary rate - ranking all the songs from the era, including remixes and shelved songs

• Western girl group rate - split into 2 seperate rates, one for ballads and one for up-tempo bops

I was thinking of starting the Unexpected one fairly soon as a number of rates are ending this week and the US-release anniversary is October 7, which would be the deadline. Also it will be a lot less songs to cover than doing a complete discography

I do miss when we used to do album anniversary rankings. I remember we did one for E•MO•TION a year on, and I vaguely remember hosting the 15th anniversary one for Stripped.

The Star Spangled Banner rate might be a tough sell since it's kinda hard to listen to the exact same song so many times. Especially since not all the members are American.

I'd be down to a full Michelle discography rate. Never really tried her solo music before.

And the girl group rate, I'd suggest that you mix the ballad with the upbeats cause a full on ballad rate might be a hard sell. The gays love their bops after all.

Thanks for the feedback. I thought ATRL might not be interested in a full Michelle discog as 3/4 albums are gospel, so thought I'd do a deep dive into her pop era and see how that goes

So, if I were to do a This Was(n't?) R&B for 2026, what line-up would we be feeling?

I think Alewya, Dawn, Kelela, the two Naomis (Scott and Sharon), Ravyn, and Tinashe are the contenders. Unless I'm forgetting someone obvious.

Depending on whether any of those make the This Was 2026 rate(s) and are booked for that instead, of course.

Would love to do Justine too because that EP is fun, but because it's an EP it feels a little more negligible. Sorry @MP2K.
