In all seriousness, at this point I don't think anybody except @Ace Reject should host the always-looming 2018 rate.  That would make it an even more iconic affair.

I was maybe only half-serious when I suggested it but I feel like the 'The International Madonna' rate I mentioned in the UOG thread could also be fun

I think the next thing to do is make a waiting list? Identify what we have running right now, what's up next.

 

The big pop girl rates are probably fine as they are, just doing two or three at a time - they seem to make their own audiences.

 

Versus rates? We have two on right now I think? Jazz ladies and UOG Indie ladies? I know Suilen is doing a Jpop rate too, but that one is in-base so probably falls outside of this jurisdiction. So that means we could start up another one, unless I've forgotten something!

 

The niche category: I was seeing this as the place for the Classics series of rates. Artists who won't draw crowds like Rihanna or Gaga rates. This is the section for our Faye Wongs and our PJ's. Would love to see some of these pop up

I think it's better not to touch the Serbian girlies (Karleusa and Ceca) because they're kinda rotten, but people's mileage may vary. 

 

 

Also not really understanding the concept of Other Japan girls if Namie is included, she's kinda the opposite of other and has plenty of non-jpop fans (a certain Mariah stan is a good example). B-listers like Ai Otsuka, Mika Nakashima, Ami Suzuki etc. make more sense to me, though I get that they would be incomprehensible for an average member.

I think the UOG name might be the wrong moniker for it then. I was seeing it as a sort of sequel to Ace's old UK Girl Group rate from back in the day... but I can't find that thread and idk what name it went by.

Well, we had the foursome rate among us not a long ago, and we've had like five threads about who's the queen of j-pop including the same 4 names this year alone, so I'd welcome something that doesn't center them. But if Namie's name is necessary to draw attention to it, then fine.

That was my logic with it, ngl. Draw 'em in with the big girls while throwing a whole variety of underrated b-list divas in too. The three names you mentioned were definitely on my mind, as well as Crystal Kay, hitomi, Double... 

I also love the way Ace used to introduce the artists one by one in the old UOG threads (and that UK girl group one), and that would be something I would like to emulate in any VS rate I host
