  • This is ******* me up       Yeah and it was specifically in the context of "albums that I can't believe I sat myself through but rates were still fun!"

Mary's huge ass discography is prime fodder for a Classics rate but also do we need Real Love winning another one? I swear it's already won 2 or 3 :suburban:

Toni's discog... ever-so-slightly less so, but we should still do a Classics style just so we can rate this bawp:

Well it might also give me a platform to preach the gospel of Libra (the European edition, at least) being her best album so I'm down

Good winner, but I feel like Brandy is enough of an album artist to have a Classics rate of her own... I mean, her most acclaimed album (Afro) is acclaimed because of the album cuts!

"I Tried" was robbed

@Ace Reject and I listened to The Heat recently. We were disappointed, but it had a few minor bops.

It's HARD carried by the 4 or 5 great tunes, but whew... when it hits it hits!!

Except in the charts.

The Heat is great, kind of a perfect summer album

Still no Libra though :suburban:

Too many drippy Diane Warren ballads. Too much B-tier production.

Fairy Tale (obviously not Warren, but definitely Warren-adjacent) kind of a discography highlight to me

Thinking out loud, because TALK of @madonnas (who started the [Year] MAKES THE WOMAN rates),

1994? Under The Pink v. My Life v. Amor Prohibido v. Bedtime Stories v. CrazySexyCool? (Or Brandy... or Kylie Minogue [1994] ... or Whipsmart!]

No Funkdafied?

Also not to mention Björk/PJ/Tori again but how many times have we rated Homogenic? I don't remember it being in a rate but I'm probably wrong, and since we're not doing the 95/96 ones, there's also Homogenic vs. Is This Desire? vs. Choirgirl or Vespertine vs. Stories vs. Scarlet's Walk. Unless these have also been in Makes the Woman rates. :suburban:

I was thinking:

1997MTW: Homogenic v. The Velvet Rope v. Impossible Princess v. Come on Over v. Baduizm v. Butterfly

1998MTW: Believe v. Ray of Light v. My Love is Your Love v. Never Say Never v. Car Wheels on a Gravel Road v. The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill!

That's right - both years get six! Too gay to function!

1997 really was kind of one of the best years for music... ever, huh? :jonny:

We’ve had so many great ideas in this thread in the last few weeks. Someone needs to compile them so we can figure out what to prioritize.

Yes! And the 99 lineup comparatively - you gotta loop in two girl groups just to fill it out! Don't think aTRL will have much interest in Chante Moore or Beth Orton!

Not too much on Chanté now...

As long as I can claim hosting rights on Neo-Soul 2000, Neo-Soul 2001, and Faye Wong Classics/Essentials :suburban:

Gotta do a Popjustice on it: only allow a certain number of each category to run at a time.

2 big discography rates. 3 versus rates. 3 niche rates.
