But they're disco albums. So they're all six songs long, and only 1.5 of those songs are good.

Except for dame Donna of course.

    we also have @Graffiti @bestfiction @Démodé @HonourableVomit @Mezzanine @popmusicisdead @Veckatimest @sunbathinganimal @Suilen @The7thStranger @Eeveelution @conatus @Graves @theblackestday . All huge

  • This is ******* me up       Yeah and it was specifically in the context of "albums that I can't believe I sat myself through but rates were still fun!"

My take:

Diana / Donna / Chercuterie / ABBA / EW&F

Thats a cute 50 ish song rate I think? With the option of leaving off the men if so desired.

Sorry to those men, but yeah, I feel like this is probably the line-up that would have the biggest draw

Or just do both Cher albums against Diana and Donna to give the poor girl a fighting chance

Can't wait to drag that one song.

#HungUpWasBetter

Technically it wasn't on the standard edition so its inclusion isn't even set in stone

:suburban:

Gimme!'s inclusion kind of opens the floodgates to also including the Bad Girls deluxe tracks (I Feel Love AND Last Dance AND MacArthur Park AND No More Tears AND On the Radio? Girl nobody stands a chance)

So what you're saying is… scrap it all and Donna Classics Rate? :lakitu:

Why not both

No such thing as too much Donna

:suburban:

TWD/Divas of Disco '79 (the latter being if we just do Cher/Diana/Donna) also kind of a good way to test the waters for potential Cher and Diana Classics rates too

ngl the three divas alone is kind of perfect for ATRL, but that's such a short rate. :skull:

Since disco was such a singles focused era, maybe you could pad it out with an extra category consisting of some of the other hits from that year?

(Here's how Ring My Bell can still win…)

Well, we've included two albums for one artist in rates before...

If it's good enough for Cheryl, surely it's good enough for Cherilyn!

Or there's also Barbra's Wet so we can get No More Tears in the rate no matter what

But I know you'd hate that

Maybe the people deserve to hear Babs sing "Splish splash, I was taking a bath" over a "disco" beat...

Baby, I'm already agreeing to rate TWO Cher albums. I think it's clear I'm putting good taste aside here. Throw Babs in.

That settles it then, Divas Do Disco '79: Barbra vs. Cher (both albums) vs. Diana vs. Donna

Care to weigh in @Ace Reject?

What were Aretha and Dionne doing that year? (Other than trying to kill each other ofc).

They'd make it a full blown reunion of Ace's old Pre-Madonna rate.

Aretha's disco album from that year is sadly not on streaming iirc

Auntie Dionne's is though :matty:

nnnn; I was mostly joking but not Dionne having a hit album that year. Ok auntie. School these hussies.

That being said, La Diva is on YouTube...

Primadonnas Do Disco though, hm... :matty:

Is this Dionne album even disco? Or was it just a 1979 album so wiki marked it as one?

The singles are… not convincing me.

It's listed as a secondary genre on RYM so I guess it's more up for debate, in the same way Wet would be (Seems to be the same with La Diva)

Bad Girls/The Boss/Prisoner/Take Me Home are obviously all definitely disco though

Would have been even more so if I had suggested Patti's 1979 disco album
