Hello actually didn’t have very good longevity and this is coming from an Adele stan. Sometimes songs are so big at the start that they are bound to burn out. They are still smashes though. Unless you’re talking about longevity “at #1” which totally depends on competition (or lack thereof).

You are right about that. But it’s  too soon to comment on “LWYMMD” s longevity when a long time hasn’t even passed since it’s release.

Why the hell is Taylor waiting so long to promote? She hasn't even shown her face in public outside of the video. And it's not like that song was supposed to be a legitimate lead single, it's barely an introduction to the era. She could have and should have released the second single this week and secure the hype stays strong. Now she's just fading slowly and the album willl not feel like an event.

We have been told the next single will receive all the promotion. I dont know if its true, but i hope so, not because of the charts or streams or sales but because i miss her doing performances ...

It spent 10 weeks at #1 though which it's hard for a song that debuted at #1 with such a big numbers, especially against big competition like Sorry and Love Yourself.

Only 3 songs that debuted at #1 spent a longer time at the top:

"Hello" has spent its first 10 weeks on the Hot 100 at No. 1. That's the fourth-longest stretch that a No. 1-debuting song has stayed at the summit. Here's a look at the singles to link the most consecutive weeks atop the Hot 100 from their starts at No. 1:

16 weeks, "One Sweet Day," Mariah Carey & Boyz II Men, 1995-96
14 weeks, "Candle in the Wind" / "Something About the Way You Look Tonight," Elton John, 1997-98
11 weeks, "I'll Be Missing You," Puff Daddy & Faith Evans feat. 112, 1997
10 weeks, "Hello," Adele, 2015-16

It had great longevity at #1. But overall longevity is assessed by the whole chart run, not by the run at #1. We just simply can’t count Taylor out and say it has bad longevity when it could very well go on to spend a year on the charts.

Hello had astonishing longevity considering its initial sales AND then the album coming along with more such incredible sales. All of which exhausted the potential sales market for the song in 3 months. Sorry just had a more evenly spread chart run. We all know which ultimately sold twice as much as the other.

For the record, despite Justin not being as frontloaded as Adele and he's stronger in streaming, 25 is above Purpose on BB200 :fan:

are you serious? you guys are SO desperate for taylor to do badly. a song that reaches #1 for multiple weeks and has one of the highest one-week streams of any song is definitely not an underperformance. omfg.

So you basically agree it was a front loaded mess?
