This isn't an accurate assessment. Mass-streaming by fans leads to a sharp, but short-lived boost in streams, whereas RMI has longevity. If mass-streaming alone were responsible for this, wouldn't artists with significantly larger fanbases secure similar runs? Also, it is VERY well-documented that radio is far easier to manipulate and a much less accurate representation of a song's true popularity.
