Tbh, this could be such a smart move. The GP is SO over all those midtempo whisper no-chorus songs and have been wishing for fun dance pop songs to come back. If this becomes a hit, the defining sound of the late 2020s could be synth dance pop.

LOVE this. It does feel a bit reminiscent of the sound of Midnight Sky which is my absolute favorite of hers. For me, this was always the sound that suited her best.

Dai Dai outcharts Waka Waka by far at this point. It still doesn't have its legacy, but the song is still too new for that.
