  1. You truly are a waste of space and thought on this forum, and probably in your own personal life. You are probably so unliked in real life, that you have to take out your frustrations on here towards your alleged favorite artist. For you to think Rebel Heart is leagues better than Confessions II is delusional and f*cking dumb.
  2. This period of her career is so fascinating to me. She was arguably the biggest pop star at the beginning of 1992. She was coming off the heels of Truth or Dare/Blond Ambition/The Immaculate Collection, had a #1 hit literally three months before Erotica was released, and was in A League of Their Own. Even Erotica started off strong, with the lead single debuting at #2 on the Billboard Radio Songs Chart - a record it still holds today, and the Sex Book was selling like crazy. But the moment that book was released I definitely think she wanted to soften her image, since Bedtime Stories was originally called Redemption. I think she felt the need to redeem herself with the public, since the 1993 backlash was hard on her. I also think the label had a play in it, hence them taking some creative control back. I mean, they rejected the original photoshoot for the Bedtime Stories album (which I prefer), and they chose the first two singles. I'd love to hear some of the Shep Pettibone demos that she scrapped, including Secret. A shame we never got it last year when The Untold Chapter was released.
  3. Right lmao. That shade never made sense to me. She said she hasn't payed attention to Madonna since she was in "7th or 8th grade when she used to be popular" - but she was in middle school in 1982, right before Madonna blew up Also, Madonna had owned the 90s up until that point. Then, I'd say Marian took over in terms of commercial success in the 90s with Daydream.
  4. If Billboard didn't count Part of Me as TD's 6th record breaking #1, then this shouldn't count either.
  5. YOUR response doesn't make sense. Nobody is expecting her to be awarded anything for the sole fact that she's 68, or "close to dying" like you so rudely put it. That's like us saying Madame X deserved the AOTY Grammy because she was snubbed in the past and she was 60. CONFESSIONS II is a masterpiece of an album, up there with Ray of Light, which got an AOTY nomination. So, if ROL got a nomination at a time when music was actually good, then of course an album of a similar caliber should get nominated in 2027 when music is dog sh*t.
  6. Tell me you were dropped as a baby without telling me you were dropped as a baby.
  7. And your Mom will never love you :(
  8. As I said in the VMA thread, I was at the gym waiting for it to air and then it finally aired. Whoever controls the TV's at the gym switched the channels literally right after Madonna's performance ended. Not during, not at the start, right when it finished. And people at my job were talking about her performance. So yes, people were watching for her. Or at least were watching football, saw she was performing, were intrigued and watched the whole performance, and then changed the channel. She might get a lot of flack, but the name MADONNA will always carry weight. Hence the record breaking performance in Brazil two years ago.
  9. The sad thing is that I could see her releasing Electric Youth right now at 37, where Debbie was like 18
  10. Not too much on Debbie, she wrote AND produced all her music when she was a teenager.
  11. No sh*t b*tch, doesn't change the fact that her pushing SIGNED copies of an album at a cheap price is obviously going to drive up album sales Still doesn't change the fact that the album plummeted quickly, and still would've if the physicals were out the first week. She would've had a bigger first week, but the album would've fizzled rather than going from 74-1
  12. I know this is a pathetic troll thread, but whatever. A lot of Madonna's success was spread throughout non studio album releases such as Who's That Girl, I'm Breathless, The Immaculate Collection, Something to Remember, Evita, etc. So, when you look at just her studio albums such as the drop in commercial success from Like a Prayer to Erotica, that makes it seem like a sharp decline. But when you look at the whole picture, you have the 3x Platinum I'm Breathless in between, and the 11x Platinum The Immaculate Collection, on top of the smash #1 hits such as Vogue & Justify My Love. You also have to remember, Madonna's commercial success took some hits due to controversy, not because bad music or because the public was sick of her (ARTPOP, Bionic, Witness). Erotica underperformed due to controversy, yet the $50 Sex Book sold like 750,000 copies in it's first week, the singles were still hits, and the album still went double platinum and spend 53 weeks on the Billboard 200, at a time where huge massive albums spent like only 80 weeks on the charts, so it did pretty well. Plus, she broke through at 24 years old, while Taylor was 16. Madonna was already being called a grandma at 34 years old when she released Erotica. Nowadays, you have artist like Beyoncé, Gaga, Taylor, and Katy who are already or pushing 40 and nobody calls them old. Lastly, Taylor pushes 100 variants of each album to propel her to massive album sales. Unlike back then, Madonna only released 1 version, and that's it. Not saying Taylor isn't huge, she obviously is, but the last album she released organically was Evermore, and that one sold 329,000 copies. Yes the album spent multiple weeks at #1, but that's because she kept releasing variants strategically. The album was literally down to #74, but vaulted to #1 because of the autographed vinyl & CD releases
  13. That's why it's #1 on streaming Nobody gives af about who you know
  14. YESSS LOVE SENSATION DEAD! Off: Danceteria Save: Bizarre
  15. Hii @GRETCHEN Is there a way for the charts to sync across all devices? For example, all my charts are on my phone, but when I log in through my computer, they're not there.
  16. This plus maybe the album cover turned people off? Not sure as I was only 4 years old when Hard Candy came out. Can someone confirm?
  17. I haven't done this since Good For The Soul got eliminated Keep: School Off: Love Sensation
  18. Totally, I re-listened to some of her songs a few days ago and was shocked at how AC-leaning they were. Even the chorus of "So What" barely has any guitars.
  19. Exactly, only iconic video is Smells Like Teen Spirit, maybe Heart-Shaped Box but that's kind of a stretch. Idk what's up with this revised history. At the time, Pearl Jam were the huge stars on MTV. It got to the point where they didn't make any music videos for their albums "Vs." and "Vitalogy" so they wouldn't become a band known solely for their music videos. If anything, they should receive the award, considering Eddie Vedder is actually alive to receive it.
