I don't wanna be that type of gay who is like "male songs? ewww" but why is every old song doing well on streaming always by a male artist. Women released plenty of quality classics on the 20th centur

This is barely doing 500K daily streams nowadays rip

Take a look at the Spotify Global chart: there are 20 songs released in the 20th century... and 19 of them are by male artists lol

Didn't know you were talking about right now, your post sounded like women never see a resurgence from old hits.

I'll think about it and see if I can forgive you

But it was one of the biggest old songs to come back and smash. Number 1 on Spotify. Coming for 2 billion streams next year. It's impressive

We do need more female songs though

Now that BB hot 100 is boring & every year worse

Now Spotify charts looking like a mess with old songs doing big streams, half of the current top 10 released 5 year or more... like wtf

You would think so, but the new law of Spotify is that any fuckass old song gets to spend 200 days at #1. We're so tired

the reality

Así se ve Wembley esta noche, listos para otro show de Oasis. #OasisLive25

here is my theory from studying this phenomenon

I believe in general male listeners do NOT like to hear the voices of women in terms of music they seek.

Only gay or lgbt guys seem to be the type of male to seek music with female voices.

But women, they are ok seeking out music with male vocals AND female vocals.

This means there is a disproportionate push where more humans seek out music from male voices versus female in terms of the music market as a whole.

end of theory 🤍

Well that's the same for most things, not just music. There is more interest in male super hero movies, male sports.

This is very unfortunate and I wish the crowd get well soon and listen to Blur!
