R Kelly only finally got arrested a few years back. Epstein has edits being made of him when very real pictures and documentation exist of the abusive acts he made of children.

Because every human being is a hypocrite in one way or another. People will make excuses for or downplay someone's bad behavior (yes, even sexual or child abuse) if they like them enough. People will call the Epstein files allegations against Trump a conspiracy because they like him as a political figure who can embolden and endorse their prejudices. People will make excuses for R. Kelly or blame his victims because they like his music. The list goes on.

Often times their fans see themselves in them so they ignore the parts they don't like.
