Gracie Abrams - 'Daughter from Hell'

I could see "Good Reason" and "Minibar" becoming hits if promoted right, however it doesn't seem like Gracie will be burdened by this album not having any huge hits.

    Mods should start warning people who constantly come in her threads to insult her for no reason. It's honestly becoming super tiring. You'd swear Gracie killed their entire families.

Since money is made with tours and hers is sold out, her team must be satisfied.

Broke My Heart is hitting for me now, it's probably top 3 with Death Wish and Good Reason

Also Out of Nowhere should've been on the main album, easily one of her best and most interesting songs ever

I think I have the same top 3

Out of Nowhere.... jonny3

Hate to break it to y'all but Gracie is going places.

I realised why Daughter from Hell (song) sounds so familiar, the intro is almost identical to Deep End by Holly Humberstone

I hope anyone who didn't enjoy this upon release has given it at least one revisit. It's the epitome of a grower album, but once it settles, it hits like a mf.

Also "Afflictions" and "Out of Nowhere" would make a wonderful double release if they were paired with a film or something. These are begging for syncs. 😍

love seeing the praise for AOTY clap3 as someone who was lucky enough to sit with the album for a couple of months I can definitely tell y'all it only gets better and better with time, a true masterpiece lowk

i need more time with this. It's kind of tedious to listen to from front to back right now. rip

am kinda gaged by how consistent it is, i think with something this lowkey it could easily drag but almost every tune is an earworm (not you title track, don't make that face), i'll put it on in the background and then catch myself loving something else that's been drifting by me up til that point (just getting the measure of afflictions and humming rn)

Why is no one praising Men Like You? jonny5

def one of my faves

I'm loving What If It's Right, Minibar, Good Reason, Hit The wall and Look at My Life

It's a good and solid album. I'm not a fan of her but I appreciate her songwriting this era.

so i've had some time to form real thoughts on it and it's definitely not as bad as i initially thought it was. The Secret of Us and Good Riddance are still better albums in my opinion, but this album does have some very strong highlights like Hit the Wall, Good Reason, Death Wish, The Knife and Afflictions. songs like What If it's Right?, Sober and Cold Goodbyes could've been scrapped in favor of the bonus tracks but i think it's still a nice album. her songwriting skills could definitely improve because the lyrics on like 70% of the tracks are very one-dimensional and don't introduce any interesting ideas. lyrically, Men Like You is just a ChatGPT remake of Death Wish, and songs like Mews/Broke My Heart end up not having a clear idea besides the very obvious straight-forward thing. Daughter from Hell and What If it's Right? are especially lyrically weak, but Good Reason has a good idea but some of it can feel very one-dimensional like i said before. Minibar is also a mess lyrically but it's only supposed to be a fun thing so who gaf. Death Wish has become my fav despite it being abysmal as **** on first listen so. Imaginary Friend lyrics are very unimpressive and the underwhelming production matches. Afflictions is very beautiful and it feels like a really soft and comforting song, same with Humming even though it's a bit darker subject-wise. i don't understand how the first verse fits into a song about political issues, and some of the lines seem very generic. Look at My Life is a great sound for her but the lyrics are trash, corny, on the nose and give 14yo tiktok girl who loves Billie Eilish and Sienna Spiro and stickers of ai generated animals tries to write a song. overall this is like a 8/10 i would say
