17 years into his career, he just had the biggest Coachella performance ever with minimal effort, outdoing both Bey and Gaga, receiving the highest paycheck, seeing his catalog soar with even exiled music industry villian Nicki Minaj benefitting. Yes, he has a multitude of hits and albums bigger, both in numbers and quality than the artists you have mentioned(Gaga or Beyonce)

Yeah he does, swag was streamed 17m times yesterday on Spotify, that goes all to him. We also don't know the details behind the selling of his old catalogue. But the demand for a stadium shows is up 10x more than just 2 years ago

The whole reason his catalog, which has naturally extended to his recent albums, is smashing is because of nostalgia.

Based off of name recognition and the era of music he represented, I'm inclined to say yes.

However, he misses a classic album to his name. Similarly to Ariana Grande. There isn't a specific album of his where you go and say "this is a all-timer classic album".

He's an icon. Not sure if he's musically important enough to be hailed a LEGEND yet idk. He doesn't really have material that moves the needle or is omnipresent on the sound of the current generation. it just performs well. I made this same argument about Taylor 10 years ago and then we started getting the Olivia Rodrigo's and Gracie Abrams of the world clearly influenced by her sound so it could always change.
