Thank you!! I keep seeing this "quote" referenced everywhere. Even a popular reviewer I follow mentioned Olivia shifting away from rock. She never said that… it was in that fake quote a Lana fan made up.

Nah, not for the lead. She's releasing CD's, vinyl, and probably has a big promo budget for it. Not the time for the lead. That was the problem with the GUTS singles. I loved them but the talk-singing was jarring and her song suffered with poor radio callouts. She needs something super commercial for the lead

If you're going to be experimental, the lead is the only option. It gets the most attention and has the best initial shot at smashing. doesnt always work, but if let's say Aperture was released as a 3rd single it would've flopped 1000x worse.

100% disagree. Aperture killed any momentum or hype for the era. The song didn't smash. It was a flop. Would've been better if it was a third single and would've flopped either way. at that point it's a third single and no one cares. If Harry released something more commercial for the lead there at least would be hype around it and could bring momentum to the album.

The problem with GHB was that in theory it's a great song, great melody, good lyrics. But this type of song isn't a great match for Olivia's vocals, and the chanting chorus sounded like a group of kids screaming which made it immature and kids-bopy. If executed better it would've been a hit.
