Why are you trying to have a discussion about the return on investment of Katy's music if you seemingly "don't care" about her finances? The contradiction lol.

You're making the assumption they make "no money" when you don't even know this for a fact? Radio and pure sales are as well. And like you already mentioned, touring is a major source of income too.

The incentive to keep funding new projects is because Katy Perry has a recording contract. Meaning she has the contractual obligation to release music. Katy is still an established act in pop music at the end of the day. She gets tens of millions, sometimes even hundreds of millions of streams on the singles that she puts out. Like I said, she is the biggest artist under her label. They made hundreds of millions of profit from her name alone. Do you think a fart like 143 in the greater scheme matters that much? (Especially considering that album has very little support to begin with: small collabs, no playlisting, minimal radio, only 1 televised performance…)

Touring is where you make the most money, and it's not like they spent much on 143's marketing anyways

Her almost $150M tour gross is surely more than enough to cover all that expenses

I agree - I guess my point is that the label could make more money by not funding new projects and just sending her on a greatest hits tour or another residency, since that's all people are to hear anyway.

I don't really care about her personal finances but this is a pop music forum where we discuss these things that's not a contradiction

You're so right that artists also make money from sales and radio. Not sure how the radio payouts work but she's never been a smash with pure sales either and I doubt many people bought 143 lol

Despite her making Capitol money, this is her third flop in a row (which each album performing worse and worse). At least Smile and Witness had a few hits.

Yet here is an entire stadium getting their absolute life to a song from 143, a deep cut at that.

At the end of the day, no matter how many bitter homos try to downplay her on this forum, she'll always be someone with an impressive catalogue of hits and success and one of the most recognizable iconographies. The absolute heights she reached in her first 8 years of career is incredibly rare in the pop world and it won't go away no matter how times she flops to the pits of hell today. So her multigenerational classics and other gems in her discography will keep getting these bumps every now and then. Thus she'll never be truly irrelevant even if most of y'all want her to perish. Y'all better get used to it lol.
