Ashanti "Only U" Appreciation Thread

Featured Replies

She didn't have to snap this hard!

Should've been her first UK #1 hit, unfortunately it stalled at #2, still an impressive feat - by far her biggest solo hit over there.

Maybe an unpopular opinion, but this song stomps all over Foolish imo

Ashanti dropped four albums in 3 years & 5 in 7! Mama was not playing but unfortunately Rihanna came out & knocked girl out the game.

Still never recovered

I dont think Ashanti and Rihanna competed in the same space. There was some crossover but not enough

Wow... That Post-"Crazy In Love" video era for the R&B girls was disastrous with a bunch of people strutting down streets and doing eight-counts in heels for the first time. Christina Milian ("Dip It Low"), Amerie ("1 Thing"), and Alicia Keys ("Karma" - her strut in the train station and very glamorous styling) were probably the only videos that got it right.

The others weren't so great.

  • Brandy - "Afrodisiac"

  • Ashanti - "Only U"

  • Olivia - "Twist It"

  • Christina Milian - "Whatever U Want"

Ohhhhh this edgy era reinvention classic

My favorite bop, I often add it to my playlist at work

and Rain on Me

This top 5 European smash! It deserved so much more - the opening guitar alone is crack
