I love Adele but she kind of benefitted from Amy Winehouse's death(leaving a void) and being seen as the "anti Gaga" of the early 2010's era.

This isn't to deny that 21 is a universal classic that is cemented in history. But her albums after 21 didn't showcase her range in the slightest.

She's still a legend but there's so many soulful retro singers and artists doing ballads these days that she's kind of experiencing her own "Seinfeld effect" in which the very thing that made her stand out in the early 2010's no longer makes her stand out.

She still has strong universal appeal from 21 and 25 though. I've seen middle schoolers sing old Adele songs, knowing every lyric.
