I was watching an album reaction and they loved Cowboy Carter but they said she tried too hard on Sweet Honey Buckin' with all the changes happening mid-song. They felt it ruined the pace of the album and it made no sense.

When I listen to her new music my brain is waiting for a surprise lyric or production change. It's like a dopamine rush. I'm starting to give deranged Swiftie trying to solve a puzzle/hidden message. I think she should go back to the basics with Act III. Unexpected features and samples don't work long-term. Combining a million songs into one isn't working after the first few listens. Surprise remixes have all flopped besides AHAP. This is why the gworls love Donk. It's production is simple. It's lyrics are simple. But the song is undoubtedly a Beyonce song and a nice vibe with a lot of replay value. It doesn't need twists and tricks to keep you engaged. Her voice does all the carrying.

Self-titled is probably the only album with surprise elements that doesn't feel like a caricature of itself.

Who cares if her next albums keep having no longevity as long as the music remains great? Most people already consider her a legend and that's not gonna change even if she ends up having negative daily streams lol

She's like the only mainstream artist who keeps experimenting with sounds on every album and you want her to go back to making simpler music just so maybe she can get a couple more weeks in the Billboard 200?

Atp, the "announcement" will be imminent or it really is some digital-centric repackage comprised of bonus material she can tack on to a streaming edition with minimal notice (if any at all, ahead of Sept 4)

While I feel like sis stays making ish up as she goes along (e.g., this repackage to begin with), I do feel like this intentional muteness on her page is absolute strategy. Either to maximize the surprise factor when she does eventually post or because she is protecting her social capital to spend on Act III.

Given that she/we are now sandwiching this random B'Day venture in the middle of a trilogy, the marketing geek in me is really intrigued about how she will make a demarcation between what is "main event" Beyonce content (e.g. Act III) and what is side-ish.

It's such a random curveball that, of course, wasn't a thing with Acts I and Act II. I know some of y'all want promo, promo, promo. But I will preach this til kingdom come: Bey does not have an automated/bot-like base who will inhale any and everything she announces/pushes. Her thing is scarcity marketing, shock and awe, and capturing the zeitgeist.

So, spending and replenishing this ought to be (and typically has been) a very strategized and tactile play. She's now in a spot where she has to make this B'Day thing feel big but not too enough to distract from what ultimately matters most: Act III.

the only reason artists do reissues is for charts/sales, streaming boosts and to peddle special vinyl editions (and the way she's fumbling this we won't be seeing any of that)

it's not like she actually cares about fan service and it most likely won't be a completely reimagined album or something major that would keep us busy for more than a day anyway like??? at least try and snatch some extra hot 200 weeks or a cute streaming boost or something cause otherwise what's the point

The way this is going to be a digital only release of B'Day Deluxe + Bonus Tracks (Back Up, Creole, Lost Yo Mind) + Donk remix pack and that's it. She's gonna perform Donk (remix) at Jay's show on the 4th to "celebrate 20 years of B'Day" and call it a day. Bookmark me

I wonder if the world's best PR negotiated a Beyonce song for GTA radio which will be the best selling game of all time for years to come.

Some of my favorite songs were introduced to me through video games like WWE and racing games.
