Does anyone else think she relies way too much on the element of surprise and that's why her music isn't seeing longevity? I'm not just talking about surprise releases.

I was watching an album reaction and they loved Cowboy Carter but they said she tried too hard on Sweet Honey Buckin' with all the changes happening mid-song. They felt it ruined the pace of the album and it made no sense.

When I listen to her new music my brain is waiting for a surprise lyric or production change. It's like a dopamine rush. I'm starting to give deranged Swiftie trying to solve a puzzle/hidden message. I think she should go back to the basics with Act III. Unexpected features and samples don't work long-term. Combining a million songs into one isn't working after the first few listens. Surprise remixes have all flopped besides AHAP. This is why the gworls love Donk. It's production is simple. It's lyrics are simple. But the song is undoubtedly a Beyonce song and a nice vibe with a lot of replay value. It doesn't need twists and tricks to keep you engaged. Her voice does all the carrying.

Self-titled is probably the only album with surprise elements that doesn't feel like a caricature of itself.

What is this take? Yes, she knows that boring music keep people engaged. She already did I am... Sasha Fierce. But if you find anything she's done post-Self Titled to be "a caricature of itself" you might as well stan someone else.

While I don't agree with most of this goop, I do think it's possible she will pivot sonically for act iii, since she basically already did TWO genre-bending albums. To do a third album in that direction might be too predictable for her standards.

So all those samples, rock features or historical endorsements/references that fans theorised she would do as she did predominantly with CC and a portion of REN might not happen at all.

Its also very possible that after this 5-year NO VISUALS stint she might cave and change things up from the pattern set with the past 2 eras and actually give us some.

That video isn't a gotcha. Her interest in the genre came from Daddy Lessons and being treated poorly at the CMAs. She pretty much said as much herself.

The only people who would see that video and think she's a fraud are people who already hate her.

right, "been country" didn't mean "I always made/listened to country music", it's about her texas roots/southern culture and now she is exploring that side in her music. She knows Country music is seen more as a part of the south's culture and wanted to remind people she is part of that culture (I mean, half her career people were calling her slow only because she had a thick southern accent)
