On this day, October 22, 2007, Adele Laurie Blue Adkins released her first song, the beautiful Hometown Glory.

 

And then in January 2008, she dropped another classic, Chasing Pavements.

 

Must have been amazing for the first fans back then to hear these songs and be like "who is this Adele??"

 

Then later in January, '19' was released. I still believe some of the most authentic Adele sound can be found on this album.

 

 

It's hard to believe she wrote Hometown Glory at 16, and what a voice. 

 

Cold Shoulder was another single from that album but tends to get overlooked in favour of "Make You Feel My Love", Hometown Glory" and "Chasing Pavements".

It's crazy to think that she has won Grammy, Emmy, and Oscar while being one of the best selling album artists of all time with only 4 albums

A legend was born that day and most people only took notice years later. 
 

But damn what a voice, what a freaking fun personality, what a woman! Plus she became one of the biggest stars ever without even conforming to the industry standards of female artists in modern times. Just her deeply personal music and that voice of a generation. You just can't not love her. She could honestly be on the level of MJ, Prince, Celine, Madonna in terms of commercial power by now looking at her cross-generational appeal IF SHE TRIED, but she has her priorities straight and only comes back with new music when she wants to, and you can't help but respect her integrity tbh.

Hometown Glory is my least favorite single of hers, but it's still a solid song. That only shows how good her discography is.
