Lana didn't influence Lorde. The timeline doesn't really fit (video games was realesed in 2011 but lorde's debut EP doesn't sound like that song at all, it sounds like BTD and that was released on 2012. Lorde recorded the EP on 2011)

 

It was one of those cases were a label saw Lana and said oh we have something like that in our roster and promoted it. There are similarities tho so that's why the comparisons exist but that type of music had started to be popular on places like pitchfork since 2009. Lana didn't invented it. She doesn't even like the sound of her debut.

Billie is not a descendant of Lorde, I don't think they're that similar at all actually. They both were teens with an edgy alt style that blew up massively, and You Should See Me In A Crown could have fit in Pure Heroine, but that's it. Most of Billie's music feels like it has a classic structure to me, I hear a lot of Beatles influence in the melodies that her and Finneas come up with, with some Lana in her vocal stylings.

these made up facts when i responded with exact quotes and evidence of how Lana influenced Lorde straight from her mouth.  

Lorde straight up saying "I was listening to Born To Die a lot and it shaped my writing" yet user Digitalism thinks he knows better.

and it's not true Lana didn't like the sound of her debut, she just wasn't a fan of one song's final production in particular.

and the fact that @KatyPrismSpirit ignored my post but liked this one cause it fits their narrative
