Do we need them as an emphasis for something we like?
 

I was recently on a video game one and it was not cute, they had to change their rules because of me and some fad having a feud.
 

I was also on a different pop girl server, it felt like too much for daily use.

 

What do we think, sistrens?

Love Discord but I only join servers for the emotes (which I steal the ones I like from others and copy them into my own) and primarily use it to communicate with friends and even some family members. I also use it to share files and code from one computer to another.

But I'm also someone who hates texting and I work from home so its just an easier way for people to get in contact with me since I have it on my personal and my work computer and I completely ignore my phone unless I'm at the gym.

Can you have one discord per MPG? I couldn't even handle it with one.

I joined a Gaga discord a few years ago as well as a Taylor one, since those are the artists that I was most likely to want to talk about. I think it was around the time Chromatica was going to drop since I was so hyped over it (around the time she postponed it and before she announced when it would release).

I found them both to be pretty insufferable.

I joined mine first hoping they had leaks, I ended up providing them with the leaks.

I don't like Discord servers tbh, I miss when Internet forums were huge. It was easier to access information back then if you needed help on something. Now, you need to go join an individual server to find something, and the search engine isn't very good.

Aren't you guys concerned about it taking away activity and slowly killing the forum? I was a member of many forums being someone who grew up with them and despite them saying it won't, each and every forum that added Discord eventually faded away in activity. Sites that had upwards to 400 active members logged in at any given time dwindled down (especially after COVID when Discord popularity spiked even further) and some have maybe 20 members online max at any given time.

It’s only going to be used if/when ATRL is down.

Im a trial mod for a new growing Kpop one and they were talking about how a new SKZ one got so toxic that even the mods were breaking the rules

 

There is millions of discord servers there will be bad ones and good ones it really depends on the kinda people who run them 

I use Discord to stay up to date with manga leaks, certain fandoms and different games that update often. Besides that, I have a server with my close internet friends that I've known since I was 12 and we use it as sort of a texting group chat to stay in touch/stream/play games together. 

 

I don't like joining Discords for social reasons outside of that, they can be… messy.

I never understood the appeal. I think they're kind of the replacement for forums for younger people today but they're too unorganized for that and it ends up feeling like a big group chat.

I don't join artist specific ones,though. Although there was a Prince discord that was pretty cool once upon a time.

 

Reddit generally speaking will always have my heart for music discourse. r/LetsTalkMusic forever.

Agree 100%. Discord as an instant messaging service? Great, lovely. But as a place for community discussion is awful, and lately it's being used as lot more as that.

 

Like you said, basically all content is locked up and not searchable on google, but even if you know which server you need to look into,good luck finding something. 

 

You missed out on a discussion from 3 hours ago? On a forum you can bump a thread if you have something to say, on discord it's just gone.

This reminds me of that one family in that one japanese court show where the wife is a G-Dragon stannie and she makes sure to let her husband know that he would easily get replaced with G-Dragon if that were a choice

I've been in the Genshin atrl discord and the people are actually fun to talk to there

Not a fan of Discord at all and kind of don't know how to use it

 

I've been on like 1 or 2 servers and was barely active because I had no idea what I was doing
