J.P. MORGAN WALLEN: Mere days after this writing, the atomic bomb that is Morgan Wallen will lay waste to the rest of the U.S. chart landscape—the 37-track I'm the Problem (Big Loud/Mercury/Republic) will likely be #1 for many, many weeks. The label's immediate priority is to beat the last album's 500k debut, which looks exceedingly likely; numbers like 650k are now being bandied about. Seth England and team have about 200 million reasons to celebrate.

HERE COMES MORGAN

Morgan Wallen is a phenomenon, and he is set to dominate the marketplace afresh with his new Big Loud/Mercury/Republic album, I'm the Problem, due on 5/16.

Forecasts for the first week are stratospheric—we're talking the pricey neighborhood of 500k—and appetite for the material will be further amplified by the artist's barnstorming, Live Nation-promoted stadium tour.

Quote

It would be wrong to call the new release a return—Morgan never went away. Indeed, his most recent set, 2023's One Thing at a Time, remains a Top 5 seller YTD and has racked up a ridiculous 9.9m in ATD. His previous blockbuster, 2021's Dangerous: The Double Album, has done 11.3m in ATD (and was Top 10 on our latest chart), and 2018 album If I Know Me has amassed 5.4m.

If he does 500k (similar to his last album) with a bigger amount of songs, way more singles before album release and multiple physicals (heavily discounted at that) upon release… would be a glimpse of decline, finally

I'm so glad I live outside of the US and I don't even have to acknowledge his existence because no ones around me knows he exists either  :clap3:

It's insane how big he is there but then again that's Trump's America for you.

He really is the modern-day Garth Brooks (no shade to that man though) :rip: Extremely local to the US, massive albums with massive sales to the tune of several back-to-back Diamond albums, albums devoid of really anything to say or anything new, and ultimately flying under the cultural radar with few classics, iconic moments, or enduring hits

That seems kind of low but also the pre-release singles kind of have weak numbers. Will be interesting if this one has the same longevity.

Not surprised he's the McDonalds of music. It's ironic to me that uninformed discourse coming from mostly straight men regarding women in pop music is they're "fake", "manufactured" and "puppets for producers". Meanwhile one of the most glaring cases of a manufactured artist in modern times is Morgan Wallen. They don't go after him for singing generic songs written by other people in a genre the loves to pride itself in being "authentic". Bloated albums full of generic filler to appeal to the lowest common denominator. This oversaturation and bloated albums will eventually run its course though. Not sustainable longterm unless he develops some actual artistry or integrity.

I mean there are lots of MAGAs out there. I don't think his music will have longevity though.

Name one enduring classic by Morgan Wallen. Quickly.

if that was the case, Justin Bieber would be having record breaking sales in the US as of 2025.

we're not his target audience but not everything is about us.

he literally has songs from his first album charting high so pretty much all of his discography will probably be enduring classics to middle america like plenty of other country hits i never heard of.

If another man snatch Artist of the Decade from Taylor again
