ijbol remember when Solar Power had no CD bc of her climate activism - she said F the planet for this album, we cheered!

  • new track in 3 days.

  • I believe Melodrama remains her magnum opus, but Virgin sounds absolutely incredible. It's the Lorde we know, yet it also feels incredibly refreshing. In Hammer, she mentioned, "I might be born again,

Solar Power is so out of place in her discography...

All of her albums are completely vulnerable explorations of herself.

Solar Power is exactly that and it fits perfectly.

Making the most "gentlest" song on the album the lead single is.........a weird choice :skull:

Sometimes you want a hit so you can get a budget to do other things ddd

hideous cover omg noooo

I get what she's trying to do, but it feels purposely pretentious and doesn't really land.

People can't immediately identify what they're looking at because she's throwing too many elements in to create "edge".

People all over Twitter think her belt buckle is a IUD :coffee:

I go away for work and there is lot to catch up on here.

Love the cover, but I want to know how anyone thinks the belt is an IUD.

Did they really think it's going to be up there, didn't they look a little closely at the cover?

I'm guessing she had to make a couple of concessions to the wishes of the record label, and putting the most gentle/safest song out first and offering physical albums had to be part of that. I'm glad the standard album is just 11 tracks and I never felt that Melodrama should be longer.

Music albums should not be an all you can eat buffet.

Spoiler

of course it would be good if she would release more often and give us a higher number of tracks per 4 years, but that is a different subject.

Edit, "belt is an IUD" ... that should be "belt buckle". not "belt"

GOOD MORNING :butterfly:🩻

IUD is not belt, its the "T" near belt

I know, but I'm not sure how other people seem to be confused (also I meant "belt buckle" not belt).

When a girl with synesthesia explains something as clear, you know it's gonna be fuckeddddddd :duca: :falcon:

i literally won't be able to stop thinking about this album & we don't even have single #2 yet :jonny:

The way Solar Power genuinely SHIFTED 2021 for me. And Melodrama accompanied me through my first year out of high school and navigating uni at 19. And Pure Heroine helping me grappling with growing up. And now Virgin to teach us some new lessons. I am 27 a month before it releases and am so excited to see what she spills about the human experience :jonny:

Interesting, thank you.

Prediction time: Lorde will make an appearance at Glastonbury, possibly as a guest of Olivia Rodrigo.

Listen to the section after the main part of the interview from 1:23:00

"the 27th of June ... is also during Glastonbury weekend".

Olivia headlines on the Sunday night.

There are other possibilities of course, Gracie Abrams is on Friday night (she covered "Liability" at her recent Auckland show) and Charli XCX is on Saturday night. But I think a more likely scenario is an album release show in the US (perhaps in NYC) and she flys to London in time to get to Glastonbury and perform on Sunday night.

How did she explain the other albums?

How could anyone not love the cover..

But then again, this is ATRL and the artwork is not some cunty serve of a portrait, so I guess it tracks

The cover is giving 90s grunge, a mix of Nirvana and Radiohead sensibilities that are most pleasing to me :jonny5:

Currently listening to Solar Power while getting a tan in my parents's backyard with a perfect Spring weather and I'm getting the album now. Oh LORDe.
