It doesn't bother me because I actively choose not to listen to her annoying voice

She's not really showcasing her singing on this song, but she does sound great live, easily better than what you hear on the album versions.

The real tragedies are the ones who took her banani avocadi signature and turned it into an impersonation competition. Don't need to name names but you know the ones...

Her productions used to make her voice palatable to me but now they're bad too and there's nothing to save anymore

I've never seen someone in desperate need of attention like you today LMAO

And NO, because she sings and has one of the most interesting tones in pop music

I like her voice. It’s got such a unique character.

She's a better singer than Dua; she just has an ugly tone!

Lorde's deep & smoky voice is literally one of the things that sets her apart, her tone carries so much emotion and atmosphere. not everyone needs to be doing vocal gymnastics to be impactful (go listen to Beyoncé & Mariah Carey etc. if vocals are your main focus). the industry is full of copy paste voices but there's only one Lorde. imagine hating on uniqueness & dragging it while half of the industry is imitating it. WWT is also completely fine, there's literally nothing weird with her voice on that song.

What's up with Dua avis trying to get into Lorde/Lana business and now Lorde herself?

Tbh none of the main girls can sing very well live. Lorde's is more evident because she doesn't hide it with heavy backing vocals.

Beyonce, Ariana, and Gaga are the exceptions

Well she's no LANA

but her voice is serviceable with good production

hmm

okay, lemme answer first as a fan and then second as an artist myself who also sings :celestial4:

as a fan, I love her voice a lot of the time. her studio vocals are nice 100% of the time. live, while a bit wobbly about 30% of the time, she still sounds like no one but Lorde to me. when you're paying to see her live, you're paying to see Lorde so you should know what to expect. she ain't a belter, she's more of a mood vocalist. she's a contralto, and while projecting can make a vocalist stand out, she uses subtlety with volume while leaning into her imperfections.

now as a singer… okay so, I'm not the most naturally gifted singer in the world, but my goal is to eventually be known for my voice. I wanna be f*cking amazing. I haven't reached my fullest potential yet, but believe me I'm working on it. I'm 28 and as a kid, while I was a natural musician (I started writing songs when I was 8 and picked up the upright bass with strong intuition at that very same age), I was tone deaf in the realm of my singing voice until well into teenagehood. I practiced nonstop, and I'm still practicing for at least 10 minutes to some degree everyday b*tch because hell, I'm gonna make it one way or another. to practice singing I don't go to Lorde's music first. I go to belters like Mariah Carey, Kate Bush, Kelly Clarkson, Gaga, Jeff Buckley, Kimbra, Whitney, Adele, Beyoncé, Caroline Polachek… hell, even Bowie and St. Vincent get it. if I wanted to practice with a very specific style of enunciation, I'd no doubt go to Lorde's music before I'd go to other great artists she's inspired like Billie or Olivia or Halsey. Lorde has her share of kinda goofier-looking—all things considered—moments in her live performance. HOWEVER, she's also given us the servington, so while it's entirely fair to critique certain performances she's given, let's not act like she hasn't given us some inspiring ass moments as well :giraffe:

being a 'good singer' stopped being a requirement long before lorde became famous.

At least Gaga is an above average singer.
