Lorde didn't release for 4 years and there was a lot more anticipation

people are bored of Lana's current sound and Lorde hasn't released in a while not that surprising really 

with a music video, weeks of hyping and teasing on social media, TTH  last year's brat hype, a tiktok snippet, and a city wide promo event

meanwhile Henry didn't have any of this and she didn't even announce it was coming, it just dropped

and it only did 50k more?

It also helps that she hasn't released a single song for 3 years (8 for the GP, tbh) so the hype is there. Lana releases all the time and never makes a deal of it

Lorde's first release in four years, had a somewhat good hype with all the Charli stuff + promo in NYC + MV

Lana on the other hand dropped the song, posted an instagram reels and dipped

 

But both songs are amongst the best songs of the year til now so whatever, they delivered

lorde should have done WAY more than lana with everything she had going on for this song, years of absence and music video and promo/hype  just 50k more than a 5 minute "snooze" according to lordephants which basically did the same numbers and outdebuted on Apple Music US

not even 100k difference with all the anticipation lorde had?? literally 4 years break?

Lana is a catalog girl. I've been noticing that every release Lana has starts slow but then it somewhat gets traction with time and what was a flop end up being big in the end, and almost her whole catalog does great in daily streams even if flopping at release.
 

Lorde has a bigger new release hype. 
Its more like a comeback, lead single and stuff.

This thread makes no sense. The gap is less than 40,000 streams, that's less than a standard deviation  Considering Lorde is a popular Gen Z artist and her single is on-trend electropop that's strongly promoted as her big return after 4 years, I'd say Lana's debut with a 5 minute long downtempo ballad that leaked a year ago is far more impressive.

Little Lordesters getting brave when Solar Panels haven't even crossed 600M streams and Tunnel has 3x that despite being released 2 years later 

One was hyped for months on end, while the other was a surprise drop. It's actually more shocking the difference is that low. 

 

What's crazier to me is they both outdebuted Miley who is literally coming off of one of the biggest songs of the decade. 

wishing i didn't cause the hide button to disappear so you can hide this thread & wouldn't make chart obsessed threads dragging Lorde into unnecessary **** like this @Solaria 

 

even though it's a smash, wrdgaf & she doesn't too

 

we're not bitter and obsessed like that other fandom and this will only cause more arguments
