Pope Francis dies at 88, the Vatican says

 

"At 7:35 this morning, the Bishop of Rome, Francis, returned to the home of the Father. His entire life was dedicated to the service of the Lord and of his Church," Farrell said in the announcement.

With immense gratitude for his example as a true disciple of the Lord Jesus, we commend the soul of Pope Francis to the infinite, merciful love of God, One and Tribune."

 

The pontiff had recently had a lengthy stay in a Rome hospital suffering from double pneumonia.

He did a some things that I didn't agree with. But as far as popes go, he could've been a lot worse. And given the Catholic Church's track record, I'm expecting the next one will be.

I hope Cardinal Tagle to be the next pope. If I'm not mistaken, he's the most progressive among potential candidates.
