The point is that the reference, the benchmark, the iconic moment is Beyonce's show, not what was the first time in history someone put an artists name and Chella together (which I'm sure happened way before 2017, the festival has literally been happening for 26 years).

 

You can't really be this desperate/obtuse. The fact that you're even attempting to find these decrepit receipts with a tweet from April 2017 proves my point. People are scrambling this hard to prove some sort of point against Beyonce because she is the benchmark. I can't believe the flailing and screaming and feet stomping on here since yesterday, is this what a triumph looks like? 30 pages of crying about Beyoncé. Maybe that's why she got overtaken by Lisa. I guess Gagachella won't be a thing this time either. How sad

Only thing Beyonce did was stomp and flip her hair with 500 dancers carrying  the entire show. Truly the most overated show and artist of all time.

Um, the post I quoted was explicitly talking about twitter mentions so that's what I was discussing too huh  

The problem with this debate is that both performances mean totally different things for both artists. For Gaga it's a career high, one of her best live performances to date. This was also the case for Beyoncé but it was also a victory lap for black artists in general. That performance was much more of a statement than just a greatest hits show. 
 

 

Easily Gaga, are y'all serious? Beyonce did great but Gaga took it to a totally different level, she created a new standard for headliners 

 

It'll take time for some stans here to accept it.

Personally I don't really like Beyonce and I love Gaga, but objectively speaking...

 

The fact that Beyhive keeps bringing Beychella in Gaga main thread and all over X/TikTok means they feel insecure and Gaga delivered great, top-notch performance, probably the best or at least one of the best in her career.

 

The fact that after 7 years we still remember and bring up this performance means that Beychella was really career-defining performance and had huge impact on the performance art and culture in general.

 

They both did amazing piece of work and I thought in 2025 we are over putting hard-working women against eachother, there is room for everyone - art is not a competition.

 

That being said it's still fine to discuss and vote, but it's all about personal taste and preference - objectively they BOTH delivered on the same, legendary level, just putting emphasis on different aspects of the show.

the only thing that bugged me about gagachella is how she pretty much paid her biggest hit atm dust. i mean if you decided to retroactively add it to your tracklisting and convince us it is a part of the mayhem era (art not the charts right?), then own it and give us a full solo rendition moment like shallow, not just 1 chorus that felt like an obligation. she still gave a solid show overall.
