Not when 143 exists!

Is the album called "Spiritual Technologist"? SPIT?

Where did that come from?

Not only '143'… there are thousands of albums far worse than 'Solar Power'. We all know that most of the criticism, even from critics, came from their own expectations being destroyed. You read the reviews and all they do is compare it to Melodrama lol

Saw some posts on X about it. I think is just a fan delirium, but you never know...

will see what happens today but in the current music landscape it seems edging fans with the same snippet for weeks while all the hype dies is the trend

Someone here is obsessed with my posts apparently. Do you want an autograph? 👀

Solar Power is underwhelming and a deficient album. And that's okay. People can and will love it no matter its faults or because of them. But it has faults, objectively, in its form, rollout and her general attitude at the time. The satirical elements weren't played out well, the instrumentation is undeveloped, the references are not put to best result nor mixed all that carefully. Jack Antonoff has a fair share of blame, but since Lorde is essentially his boss guiding the album, those are her's misgivings. Some songs are great (Hold No Grudge, the lead singles, Fallen Fruit) but other sound lost, superficial (Secrets from a Girl is especially surprising in its emotional platitudes and rehashed insights), disjointed. It is a very weird beast that I'm very fond of, even if it's filled with missed opportunities

You didn't need to spend time writing a whole paragraph on it, nobody cares about or asked for your opinion

Single announcement in 9 minutes?

I guess not

Why are people coming to this thread to trash Solar Power? First of all, this is not a thread about SP. Second, nobody asked for y'alls opinion on it. Third, go do something productive or spread love in a thread of an artist/song/album that you really like and enjoy. There's no point to be here.

Anyways, Stoned at the Nail Salon is the best song ever. Let's celebrate that!

Let's prepare for WWT by listening to an underestimated album that only smart people and pretty girls got the vision

All these contrarians will pretend like it’s her best album ever but you’re right.

Baby this is forum. By definition! And it's okay you're defensive about SP. It was the perfect storm of years of resentment people had with her (some justified, others not so much) coalescing in the moment she faulted a bit with her vision. I think it makes her more interesting than a perfect untouchable music goddess that will save us all. Even Lorde knows that's too much to ask of anyone (i.e the satirical elements in Solar Power the song). It's her Extraordinary Machine and that's a better comparison and makes a better body of work than 90% of people making pop music today

The way y'all constantly choose to hate on Solar Power here instead of talking about her upcoming album (or even celebrating Melodrama & Pure Heroine, both undeniable all time masterpieces) is honestly tired. We get it, you didn't like Solar Power. But PLENTY of people LOVE that album. That's what we call "mixed reactions" for a reason. Labeling it "the worst album of all time" is just objectively ridiculous. It's a really good album.

And like… can you not at least acknowledge that she completely changed her sound and gave us something new even if you don't like the sound? Not every artist takes that kind of risk in this era. She could've easily made another Melodrama and called it a day, but she didn't. She changes her sound all the time. Solar Power is really unique in a way. Instead of dragging her for not catering to your exact taste, maybe try appreciating the growth, or just move on.

To add let's remember all the critics praised her writing A LOT on Solar Power, and their main issue was mostly with the sound, which honestly falls more on Jack Antonoff (which she ditched for L4, again many artists can't relate). We all know Jack loves to recycle now. So maybe direct that energy accordingly.

OT: i think it's impossible and they were just throwaways, but do you guys think Silver Moon and Invisible Ink can appear on the deluxe version of the album or something? :duca:

also let's remember this 1 second snippet:
