Responses for EOTW have been overwhelmingly positive so far. 

 

Sure, very weak numbers, but the people that bothered enough to listen to it are being mostly positive. It's not like she is saying it is a hit or something.

i've seen some people praise the song, but i don't really agree

a lot of others have pointed out that the chorus feels lackluster, and i think that criticism makes sense... it's definitely NOT all overwhelmingly positive

A bit nit-picking of Twitter discourse here. If we go that route, I could say that it has a 85 score on AOTY based on ratings coming from the annoying music nerd gays from there.

Her team just saw how angry her fans were under the recent post and asked Miley to write the message, her fans loved eotw so she's talking directly to them, not to her haters from atrl

Her team has been trying to build this mysterious, untouchable, Beyoncé-like persona for her but it just doesn't work. One of Miley's strongest assets is her personality and for most of the time her eras worked because of her live performances and how she embraced different personalities during interviews, social media, etc. It was a whole combo. ...or it had a major narrative behind it, like Flowers.

 

Everything about this era so far feels extremely empty so it's not surprising that it's bombing

She needs better social media presence as other pop girls but unfortunately she herself said she's done with social media and protecting her peace for her mental health. Already 3 years ago she said she doesn't even has Instagram on her phone anymore. All posted by her team. People miss her personality that's for sure 💔

Glad she stopped. Part of her appeal has always been the fact that she doesn't take herself seriously. So those posts just came across as pretentious and inauthentic.

So because you don't think the song is great and have seen some people express themselves accordingly to your confirmation bias it automatically means the response to the song is... mixed to bad?
