I agree. In a perfect world, Ciara would be right now judging America's Best Dance Crew in its 20th season alongside JC Chasez + [insert Best K-Pop Choreographer here], and releasing one video/single each season with her favorite contestants backing her.

 

I'm not sure her heart is in the music anymore, as this Jazze Pha collaboration (that many of us have been hoping for) is a bust. I don't even think Missy Elliott or Pharrell could save her right now.

While I love the autonomy and ownership Beauty Marks Entertainment gives her, it's becoming clear that more intense label structure and frequent change in writing teams was important to her early career sustainability.

 

I do think a good writer is inside her (or Fantasia and Monica wouldn't scoop up the two tracks she shopped around), but she needs a fresh team. Theron Thomas needs to move on to someone needing to build a singular, trademark sound like Justine Skye, and Ciara needs fresh co-writers.

Tbh I honestly didn't realise people didn't enjoy the EP. The only skip for me was Winning. The songs were mid but they weren't bad. They just weren't Ciara at her best. 
 

At the end of the day she's in a similar situation as Katy Perry where people are chasing a feeling (the nostalgia of their youth when these 2 were at their peak) rather than a sound. People want her to catch lightening in a bottle and she is not going to be able to do that, so she needs to move on and experiment sonically. She'd probably get the same reaction if the album was filled with sexy slow jams ala Body Party, Promise and Ride.

Nobody said it's a single. It's a horrible track regardless 

She just did an interview saying she's "really excited" for a feature she isn't revealing until around album release..

 

The GAG when it's Mario and it debuts with 12k streams…..

Right, the album being named the same thing as an EP that came out  2 years ago now? It's just so confusing, and the title CiCi was never a good one to begin with.

for me personally I am not trying to chase nostalgia, I genuinely love all of her albums up until and including Beauty Marks. Something shifted around 2020 in her music, I think the first time I was disappointed was with Rooted and then it kind of went downhill from there with a few cute songs here and there

This is when she officially started chasing tiktok hits, and making songs that can turn into a social media "challenge". (very tired formula)

 

Over time, her music has become increasingly juvenile and ultimately forgettable and lacking any real substance or depth

 

It feels like she's catering to a younger audience (not well btw) while completely abandoning the mature, meaningful sound that once made people connect with her. Even her recent singles don't leave a lasting impression, they come and go without any replay value.

This is exactly what's happening. The same thing happened to Avril Lavigne 

I wish she continued with the Thinkin Bout You sound, I really loved that song. But if not, more Promise/Body Party.

it's a travesty. Imagine going from Promise to Melanin Magic to DA GIRLS and to it's right there or whatever the new ones called .

Still abit below her capability but it was still enjoyable. This re-release whatever it is is a disaster though and so are the new songs. I have tried to like them.

Melanin - Da Girls was a weird period. I know it was mostly the Covid years, but looking back it's hard to understand what they were aiming for with some of those releases. She's done some interesting (although nothing incredible) stuff since like her Jackson Wang, XG, Key N Krate and Flex UK collabs and some of the CiCi EP, but in between shes releasing stuff like Wassup and Run It Up which would be fine if they were standalones, but they're now taking space on the album along with the EP tracks.

 

To me she still seems passionate about music, she's just not getting the best out of her collaborators and she isn't hungry enough to source more underground producers/writers. 

Winning, Run It Up & This Right Here are collectively the worst songs of her career….

She's featured on JID's new album on a song called sk8 it features earth gang as well. His album releases next week

Signed vinyls are officially sold out! They added the cd with signed poster bundle though!

@ciara needs to come back, that's an OG CiCi stan! There's only like 10 left he can't abandon her in a time of need. Just replay CRUSH and pretend it's still 2008

I kinda think not charting would be better than a bad chart placement. That way those chart accounts on twitter won't tweet about it (unless they're haters and are desperate for a viral tweet) and people won't revert to their 2011 twitter ways with her.
