She confirmed what many have been saying about High Road for a long time :weeps:

Quote

She had tried this with 2020's High Road, but that album hit a wall immediately on release. It was the pandemic; there was no tour, or little way to respond to the work. In Pitchfork's review of the album, they described High Road as "someone trying to portray freedom and free-spiritedness—even a recovered sense of identity—who isn't quite there yet." Kesha admits she agrees.

"High Road was a complicated process behind the scenes," she says. "Because I really wanted to stand for joy, and I really wanted to make people dance, and I wanted to be playful and I wanted to be the thing that everyone knows and loves me for, but I wasn't free. I was really lonely." Kesha says her new work is really about her "doing whatever the **** I want."

I give every album of hers a chance (not the biggest Kesha listener), and I will say this is a cohesive album, but probably one of my least favourites of hers on an overall scale. "The One" is probably the only one I'd willingly listen to. But I am wishing her success with her first indie release and that it performs better than Gag Order did.

"What's a girl to do? Is this what you want? **** you

"You're the party girl, you're the tragedy"
But the funny thing, is I'm ******* everything"

here's me making my own skipless version of the album! (bonus tracks optional)

  1. Freedom
  2. Joyride
  3. Attention
  4. Bop It
  5. Boy Crazy
  6. The One
  7. Oh My God
  8. Too Hard
  9. Red Flag
  10. Good Girl
  11. Glow
  12. Cathedral
  13. Yippee Ki-Yay (ft T-Pain) - bonus track
  14. If I Was U - bonus track
  15. Delusional (main version) - bonus track

Weird to not include Attention in the tracklist... If at least a bonus track?

I was wondering why this felt like a repeat of Rainbow--> High Road.

Rainbow and Gag Order being her two best albums, it seems only appropriate she'd follow it up with something this unserious and uninhibited.
I'd be lying if I didn't say I wish she had really meant the "party girl" thing was dead. I loved Gag Order so much. I wish she'd continue to make music that won't age within the next decade.

Prayer circle for ! (Deluxe) with Attention! and a few more tracks

It will be really annoying if Attention isn't quickly brought into the album tracklist :rip:

@gettsleazy @collin @bearman Resident Billboard Kesha stan Andrew Unterberger released a two-hour podcast about Kesha's 2010 and the underappreciation of her impact, we WON!

Ugh I'll have to wait till the morning to listen to Period. I'm so curious :WAP:

But I am also hoping for an eventual release of a '!' album with the bops Attention, Bop It, Existential Crisis Song and If I Was You

Looks like the flops from Paste and Slant have very little influence within the Metacritic formula, we won :jonnycat:.
