In terms of success, obviously Taylor wins. Her longevity and consistency is matched by a few if any. We've seen some young country singer songwriters come about following Taylors country success. We've now seen a slew of relatable pop singer songwriters come about following Taylors pop domination such as Olivia, Gracie, and those girls. As well as anti-taylors such as Billie. The economic impact speaks for itself. Queen Britney's impact speaks for itself.

Yes. Britney's impact was very short-lived. She influenced a generation of artists that by 2005 were mostly forgotten and by 2010 were already irrelevant.

This is the big part her stans miss, it's not that she didn't have a massive cultural peak, but it got stunted and then fizzled due to her personal issues. She didn't get to cement a lot of her status permanently and then her fanbase aged out. Beyonce had multiple peaks that kept growing as did Madonna, Whitney, Taylor, Cher, etc.

I don't even know what to say because Taylor is the main inspiration in a generation that lacks pop culture. Albums and songs are treated as background music or TikTok snippets because of the way the music industry works now. Artists don't sell records anymore. Nobody watches the GRAMMYs or the VMAs. Teen magazines, gossip and celebrity culture are dead and gone. Yes, she has a huge fanbase and she's wildly successful with impressive sales and tour gross, but, does that really impact the outside world? Is there anything she's impacting outside of herself? Is she a part of any movement and is she leading that movement? She's like a flower in the concrete.

Britney stopped mattering after 2004. So yes. 

Pop culture wise- It is still Britney. Taylor has pop cultural impact as well, but Britney is more of a blueprint.

Yes, Lana is more interesting and influenced Taylor herself, but Taylor is the face of the new pop. Britney, Xtina, and all of that crew did not translate well into the contemporary Western pop landscape.  All of them are fabulous for a throwback tho <3

well yes, there's a reason why female pop artists these days have FAR more in common with Taylor than they do Britney. Largely because Taylor (along with Lana/Lorde) rewrote the blueprint of what it means to be a female artist.

she literally brings millions to the cities she goes on her tour and that's just her economical impact, something close to no other artist have. she has entire sections dedicated to her economical, cultural, political and musical impact on wikipedia. 

 

i can't believe the amount of delulu and copium some members here have when they say she has no impact. the highest grossing touring artist, richest female musician and the girl who has presidents shaking, mayors welcoming her and economies boosting at her presence.
