IVE had an amazing 1-2-3-4-5 run with Eleven-Love Dive- After Like - Kitsch - I Am. During this period, they seemed so untouchable, and I never would've predicted that they would've underperformed this fast (globally).

Not when Kitsch is literally their 2nd best song after Love Dive and one of the best song of 2023 

 

In terms of global streaming, they had a 1-2-3-4-5 streak, and then started underperforming when they released Faddie

It's funny because 2024 started off with MYs, Fearnots and Nevies fighting over who was the third biggest 4th gen GG. Now Aespa's career could surpass both IVE's and NJ's and LSF and G-IDLE are in decline.

Because their vocals literally ruin the chorus and the instrumental is ass? It was their attempt at being "deep" and "artsy" but it just gave tumblr cringe.

The decline in question (G)I-DLE had the biggest hit out of the three.

I listened to this on a professional speaker system to give the best critique and what I can say is this:

 

It sucks. Boiled egg farts recorded on an iPhone 4 would sound better auto tuned. The vocal chops are horridly mixed when actually listened to, the melodies are boring, and it delivers the same thing song after song. It's fine to be a one dimensional act, but this whisper falsetto schtick needs to go ASAP and they need to stop the sing talking. ENOUGH

 

Not tew much on IVE but I'm one of the few here who stans Kitsch

 

I like weird loud campy kpop, they don't make elevator music for tiktok and that's worth praising for

This is a weird take because G IDLE did like 1.6m with their album (more than aespa) and even with a flop single did almost a million in the EP sales (150k behind aespa with a huge hit). They also had the biggest hit of the year so I wouldn't say they're "in decline"

I'm not one to advocate for exhausting an image like TWICE/GFriend but yeah... IVE switched it up too quickly. They had a strong image/direction with Eleven/Love Dive/After Like/ I AM (not really counting Kitsch since it was a pre-release probably because it wasn't typical IVE).

 

But it seems like they just lost direction with Baddie. It's like they went from this spoiled rich girl high teen concept to just newjeans type of high school concept but they don't fit it and the music is mediocre. They really should go back to a more luxurious type of image especially since Wonyoung is pushed everywhere and has that image.

They also just won a daesang, got a PAK with Fate, and had a hit with Klaxon that only got blocked from #1 because of Supernova
