I don't disagree that local context matters, but the context of her career matters, as well. You've ignored everything about her to try and grasp at a gotcha moment.

As far as the company's apology goes, I don't disagree. But an unhealthy amount of SM's male idols and staff are PPP/super conservative which is why so many of us girl group stans are always trashing them (especially SuJu). I highly doubt SM will take legal action because their higher-ups probably support PPP to some extent (just like all of the Big 4). I'm hoping the label's stocks take a hit and it teaches them a lesson.

i'm genuinely tired of the back and forth but it's an interesting point. i actually agree with you on most of your post but

SM was founded after LSM fled korea because of the conservative party's military dictatorship. he thought it wasn't a good environment to make music. at that time the conservative party was even forcing artists to include propaganda songs in their albums.

fast forward to 6 months ago when the same party declared the martial law, every entertainment and media companies were scared of getting taken under control again. i'm literally a first hand witness as i was in another (big) entertainment company at that exact time and we were scared that we would have to go to the studios with soldiers :rip: aaaand not assuming anyone's political colors but from my own experience, most of the people in media / entertainment are liberal and progressive. at least everyone around me. + the huge majority of people in seoul vote blue… and it's the majority nationwide rn… so i doubt the ppp voters control SM lol

also SM was always extremely progressive in its culture and views and didn't reflect the PPP at all. at least when LSM was still there. just the fact that they're working so closely with china goes against everything the PPP stands for pls :rip:

I'm really not liking the direction of the  new Katseye era after that Anitta demo leak. The "Beautiful Chaos" concept just to tie together the different genres just feels like what Lisa tried to do with Alter Ego.

Gnarly...I just can't get over the "Making beats for a boring dumb B" line. I know it's supposed to be a demo, they really changed nothing about the demo so it just comes off as Katseye being the boring dumb Bs that the original producer was mocking.

i cannot not think of gaga whenever i see "beautiful chaos"… like what in the mayhem

There's no way this Karina situation ends up hurting her and Aespa's career let's be fr

in a month time they will probably have the number one song in korea:coffee2:

I warned y'all that all the musty blinks were only token stanning last year because they were undraggable. Suddenly every username that used to say disgusting things about aespa members has a personal interest in and is an expert on Korean politics. If I had a dollar for every time I was either bullied for or was labelled a bully for my accurate predictions...:suburban:

Blinks are the fakest fandom fr, I remember when they were the main ones fueling the aespa hate train in 2022… now they love aespa lmaoooo

it used to be hell out there for me cause I liked both groups:gaycat7:

Dumbest take in this thread. Karina has been getting hate for being liberal and pushing feminist propaganda for years now. From the books she recommends to the blue scarf she kept posting last year. After YSY's impeachment, she was getting hate for posting this look in a blue scarf, which was controversial because Karina was assumed to be supporting the Democrat Party:

The color red and the 2 are the only symbols for the PPP. They mention the rose because it's called the rose election. A rose is not a symbol of the PPP.

And the context of a person's entire political career and their intentions should be taken into consideration, as well. Globalization occurred hundreds of years ago, diva, and it's just ramping up. Everyone should be involved in every election because it affects all of us.

I'd be interested to see the process. Sometimes it takes them about three weeks to post pictures but sometimes it comes in a matter of hours. These photos were only a few days old so SM should have definitely stopped them before the post. They need a better PR team.

What do you mean "if?" Here's V wearing red and doing a peace sign before voting in the presidential election in 2017. Where has @Ubermensch criticized your fave for this? Maybe show female idols a little grace the way your fave was shown grace.

I have a theory that most of the higher-ups are PPP at SM which makes me hate them more. SM has gotten into numerous conservative scandals and it is usually without the artist's consent nor knowledge. The most infamous is when they put a swastika on SNSD's Genie physical album.

A terrible metaphor and a very poor attempt, sis. You're arguing over intentions, not actions. And since the artist already clarified their intentions, what argument do you have?

I said I wouldn't talk about it anymore but while we can agree to disagree on some points (I'm not talking about the answers to trolling). I see some valid points, we should educate and learn about foreign politics, cause we indeed might be impacted in a lessor state than the people living. Even though I still think it's not our place to lecture the locals.

The tribalism in kpop is too much. One time a user had an gigantic, expletive filled meltdown at me because it's "impossible to stan both Taeyeon and IU".

I still can't believe she went as far as collabing with that dude for a quick #1. She used to serve bops. Oh well.

#8 on the charts and a definite hit. Their physical sales are growing and they're the only 4th gen boy group aside from TXT getting hits.

What? TXT has never gotten a hit...

Both are flops but you get the point...

I mean that's what I do when I make mixtapes, but they a multi-billion dollar company. Where is the photoshoot level cover?!

Is it a coincidence that the two Chinese members suddenly have "health concerns" on the day they're scheduled to perform in Taiwan?
