I don't think it's payola for katseye yeah there's some push, but all their videos have million views on YouTube, viral fancams and the girls are liked.

They did "viral" marketing by having a bunch of famous influencers post about how "its so bad its good!"  

 

When it first came out I saw like 10 influencers post "Omg why is everyone dragging Katseye? The song is SO GOOD?!" 

 

And those people have never posted about Katseye ever on their account

Ever since Blackpink and BTS blew up there has been a focus away from having vocal talent in groups. Every group can dance decently now, but companies realized all they needed to appeal to a global audience were pretty idols who can dance that release westernized music.
