but tbh i genuinely think these are bad moves. aespa's core audience is literally girls and gays and they do NOT listen to that kind of music. if they want to truly have a cult following they need to work with more experimental and trendier producers. they should have snatched someone like A.G Cook or The Dare. producers that young people who are inclined to listen to aespa actually know. lbr kpop will never be that kind of mainstream in the west. newjeans was smart enough to target the y2k gen z / pinkpantheress crowd and it paid off. aespa isn't going to succeed by collaborating with producers that the average pop listener doesn't listen. that's just my opinion

Here we go with the random Katy Perry lashings. That album is critically acclaimed and a classic pop album so that wasn't the drag you thought that it was. I'll just leave it at we agree to disagree and have different opinions. For me personally as much as the girls are vocalists the only "chops" for me are their ballads.

aespa are preparing an album but I'm not sure if that's being said in reference to the mini or to the jp comeback.

 

Last I heard, the kakao-columbia deal conflicted with aespa's warner deal and was putting western plans on pause. Kakao is trying to divest from entertainment and Whiplash eng ver also doesn't have Warner's name on it. No idea exactly which side things changed for to allow Whiplash eng ver but hopefully if SM took time out of aespa's insanely busy schedule for studio time to record this they have Superhymnova and ArmaGODden ready to drop too.

A Japanese comeback too? Hopefully we get another mini out of that too. Sucks that Japanese releases are gatekept because I would've loved to have seen Zoom Zoom and Hot Mess performed life. These regionally exclusive restrictions are so counterproductive from a business standpoint. 

 

What's the the kakao-columbia deal about? This is news to me lol what are they still signed with warner in the states? I hope so. I see them releasing the English version of Whiplash as a way for them to test the waters and I keep seeing people online mentioning them the next step for them in crossover domination. Eh not true girls and gays listen to the people that I listed and they've worked and given hits to alot of the new generation pop girlies. If we can get a producers that can create an English version of songs in vein of Black Mamba, Illusion, Salty And Sweet, Drama, Supernova, Armageddon that would sublime. Better Things is their best English tracks besides Hold On Tight. If they can get Raye, MNEK or Charli XCX (specifically get her XCX World scraps) that can honestly become the ggg aka global girl group that they deserve to be

well yes!!! but sadly i can't imagine SM being that smart atm. and imo they don't necessarily someone "famous" to breakthrough but more someone who's innovative and trendy. super shy was written by erika de casier  and it was a huge smash hit
