i have my alarm set for tomorrow but with 0 expectations. no presale, fanclub, nada. it's going to be a bloodbath and YG is going to love the press.

I just don't think I'd spend the budget on Studio Choom for Red Velvet. They're a group who will go viral for singing. Give us that first!

Stunning. Their best since debut.

Their concept teasers always gag and give me RV in the best ways. But I'm going to die if they don't have any high notes nor adlibs on this song. Chaewon, please :jonny5:

SM using a background. We are SO back. Finally

f(x) were at one point the second most popular girl group and outselling every second gen group except SNSD.

...Physically? f(x) were never above WG/Kara/T-ara/2NE1 in public perception

YGLY being rat as always

BP solos would've been much a main events if each of them have time to marinate their solos. I know the girls minus Jisoo are fuming inside :rip:

It's funny BP gets mocked for not releasing, not releasing quick enough, and now they're being mocked for releasing...too quick. :coffee:

babymonster really bankrupt this fuckass company and they're still huge flops after 10 back to back releases :lmao:

Enough time has passed. YG is out of the Big 4🤭 BP alone is keeping them top 5

Watching boys planet right now. First time ive seen male contestants that are super confident and have the talent to back it up. Han bin got hype by mnet since the beginning but he actually have the charisma and talent to back up mnets hype.

They're cannibalizing each other though...You don't even know who to pay attention to when like 10 BP related music videos have been released in the past 3 months. You can visibly see the MV views continue to decrease because it's hard to maintain hype when you keep throwing out singles and MV with little breaks in between.

Jisoo, Jennie, and Lisa all releasing their albums within a month of each other is a bid of an odd choice

That's just the risk they took so they can make a comeback in time this year. Jisoo pretty much said she only released the mini album as a gift for the fans. I'm sure YG didn't force them to comeback either or set up the comeback without them agreeing to it.  They did it for the fans.

I fear Singsing won't be attending MFW for Versace but weird cause we have Karina for Prada :emofish:

Jisoo is the only one I'd say is "for the fans" since its a typical Kpop comeback.

Rose, Jennie, and Lisa are all getting high profile collabs, big budget MVs, sent to radio, etc. These are clearly label driven eras meant to be fully "pop girl" eras especially after they saw APT smash. They'd all fare better spaced apart because they have too many akgaes in their fandom. All being released so quickly in succession means the akgaes won't want to support the other girls since all their charting and achievements will be compared realtime. It's a bit of an odd situation since I don't think I've ever seen a Kpop group have all their members release solos within a 4 month time frame

La Cha Ta - Predated Circle

Chu - Predated Circle

Nu ABO - #1

Pinocchio - #1

Hot Summer - #2

Electric Shock - #1

Rum Pum Pum Pum - #1

Red Light - #2

4 Walls - #2

Was their peak on-par with KARA, T-ARA, WG or 2NE1? No. But they peaked later and when those groups started to go inactive or disband, that's when f(x) came in.

I think they're just recognizing that fans can't support 5 brand new singles at once the same way they could just one.

I think it's a combination of things that make for this unique situation. BP have all given subtle hints they wish they had been able to release more music as a group under YG. Time is money and I think they just wanted to release music as quickly as possible to capitalize on their hype from the tour + contract ending.

Lisa also has her album timed with her appearance in one of the most popular TV shows in the world right now. Jennie and her both have appearances booked at Coachella too so it makes sense to have an album out before appearing. These are all their first albums too so they can't half ass it with the promotion and collabs. They're all doing very well too. Making it as an East Asian popstar isn't gonna happen just like that.

I have no issue with listening to Lisa, Jennie, and Jisoo together daily. I just don't have time for Rosé's music because I don't like it

I mean yeah no one wants to just sit and wait so it makes sense they're all releasing it just would have been smarter of them to plan to space them out so they don't compete with each other. But they can't really do that I guess with their schedules and then tour where they likely will all be performing their solos.

But yeah, I feel like ExtraL would be a smash if it wasn't lost in a sea of singles from BP members. It's a shame because it's so good

Lisa's Alter Ego era started last June 2024 and has always been planned to be released the same time as her White Lotus debut aka Feb 2025. She's 5 singles in now Rockstar -> New Woman -> Moonlit Floor -> Born Again -> new single tomorrow so she def had a proper main pop girl era

Rosé had the biggest kpop song of all time just behind gangnam style and is still sitting pretty at #2 on spotify global and #1 on youtube, top 10 on billboard hot 100 (and all official charts all over the world) up to this day 4 months later. number one girl did great as a promo single (150M streams) and toxic till the end though it did great too, it was always bound to be overshadowed by APT aka a once in a lifetime smash hit in the same album

rosie album has 1.8B streams on spotify now with 600M from the other tracks. she had a proper main pop girl era too like lisa + she's not done. she's releasing a deluxe very soon

i'd say Jisoo also had a proper era. this was just a mini album and her target for this release is still kr/asia. she had your usual kpop era that lasts 2-3 weeks

Jennie's album and era is the only one that feels rushed and messy tbh its very sad. Mantra was released Oct and she was silent up to feb this year that's 3 months of nothing. then from Feb Zen -> Love Hangover -> ExtraL -> and the title track next week. she's releasing a new single every 2 weeks. the collabs not being on the physical album is also very messy and releasing just a week after Lisa is a choice :deadbanana2:

these albums are passion projects and for the blinks/akgaes obviously. all 4 has always wanted to release proper solo albums since they were trainees and finally did it. they are cannibalizing each other but tbh who cares about these views and streams (just twitter blinks aka me) we're getting pop perfections after pop perfections

does that explain the discrepancy between the digital and physical versions of alter ego? that months-long lull after new woman (same with jennie and mantra) was giving shookethPT.

since ROCKSTAR released her company has been serving messy, cheap, and incompetent. does anyone remember the debut live stream when the MV premiere was minutes late and we all saw the intern's desktop?

i feel like its gonna be a hot mess but im here for it.

The worms for brains going on in this thread. The black pink girls were forced to rehash the same song every other year for a decade and the entire time their fans complained. Now they're doing something different and releasing much quicker. Literally every main criticism of that group vanished overnight, that's called listening to fans and to the public. It's NEVER a bad thing.

It's also plainly obvious that the solos are being rushed out so that they can also continue to promote as a group. Literally everything about this strategy is about appealing to what people want.
