Do we know what the difference between this case versus Garam's or Soojin's is?

Part misogyny, part JYP got him to apologize swiftly and he went on hiatus for a few months instead of dragging it out like the other two.

ADOR is shameless for trying to separate them while not being upfront about her removal monkey Minji might just say no after all

What is MHj up to these days tho? Didn't she quite literally started all this

Hybe is so messy. And they are doing all this while they are being investigated by the ministry of culture following a fan's complaint demanding for the supervision of NewJeans' safe return rip and I bet nothing is going to come out of it

In Hyunjin's case, the accusations were mixed and unresolved. Some classmates accused him of verbal bullying, but others publicly defended him, and there were no official school violence committee records or legal findings. Hyunjin also acknowledged wrongdoing, apologized directly, met with accusers, and took a 6 month hiatus. JYPE managed the situation quietly and gave it time to cool down, and they saw the controversy as something that could be resolved rather than escalated. It all got resolved quickly within 4 days and Hyunjin went on a 6 month hiatus before returning to the group.

Soojin's case was different. She faced multiple accusers, including a well-known actress (Seo Shin-ae). Unlike Hyunjin, Soojin strongly denied most claims, and the controversy dragged on for over a year with no clear resolution. During that time, Korean public opinion turned sharply negative, and Cube's inconsistent handling made the situation worse, ultimately leading to her removal to protect the group.

Garam was a rookie idol and the scandal broke out right at her debut. Even if her case was about defending a friend, she had actual official school violence committee records. The scandal completely overshadowed LE SSERAFIM's debut era and a rookie group couldn't afford long-term controversy like this, so they had to kick her out. HYBE tried to defend her multiple times, but most people wanted her out of the group.

MHJ is fighting Hybe in court. She won her injunction + police investigation both found her not guilty of taking over ador / tampering. Nothing else yet.

She also started her own company called OOAK, still in the preparation stage. She basically made it out of Hybe and her non-compete clause (like what Hybe did to Leesooman) was waived following Hybe nuclear's removal, so she can work.

I wish Newjeans could pull some Big D move and go on hiatus again. Live your life peacefully far away from Hybe for 3 years, to let the contract run out, then come back under another group name.

But I don't know if it's possible legally.

The way this nugu bop has been out for 9 months, and I just discovered it

Did everyone try the SOTY? I thought the SOTY was lovely.

If Minji rejects it she's a legend. The group could realistically continue without Dani in South Korea since I think she wasn't that popular there whereas she was one of the international fans favs. Minji on the other hand is like the most popular member in South Korea right? If she holds out then Hybe might want to consider giving Dani a contract too or just cancelling the whole thing…

I wonder if they're trying to make the girls forfeit their solo brand deals? Wouldn't be surprised if they're trying to funnel NJ brands into other subsidiaries

The only campaign that is still ongoing is Olens I think, n°1 colored contact lens brand in Korea. It was a 2-year brand deal, it seems. Other contracts are 1-year long, and have expired by now.

So Minji holds all the cards?

I don't think her popularity matters here. As long as Hybe can keep 1 member, which they might be able to by pressuring Hyein's parents, given she is a minor, they can cut everybody else. Legally, they keep the "group" alive. Hybe has shown they were ready to cut 3 of them when they only announced "the return" of 2 of them.

Newjeans has to coordinate as 5 to decide if they comply with whatever Hybe is doing or not. Theoretically, the remaining members could simply refuse to perform if that came down to it.

I'm worried for these girls.

I only see HYBE destroying NewJeans step by step. HYBE won't give them the resources they need to rebrand, it's obvious our girls won't renew their contract with HYBE in 2029.

Let's hope what awaits them next isn't endless money-grab tours, overloaded fan-meeting schedule, or badly handled song releases. I can't even imagine how, by 2029, HYBE might damage their reputation even more than now, making it harder for them to sign smoothly with a new company. psyduck

I think it's expected Newjeans will go to MHJ's agency. That's rather obvious. I'm not worried about their redebut, but they need to make it there alive and healthy, all 5 of them.

I think that was the outcome the moment Hybe fired MHJ, the lawsuit only delayed the inevitable. The situation would be more or less the same today, with or without Newjeans taking a stand for themselves. Hybe never had their interest at heart, and by successfully removing the CEO MHJ, Hybe gained full control of NewJeans' future.

Good for her. I would love to see Danielle and Minji pull an ARTMS and work with her. As for the girls who agreed to return they might not be able to do much or even talk about the situation imo. I feel like Hybe is usually pretty strict handling groups mentioning members that left, especially with their case.

TBZ became nugu again after Haknyeon's unjust dismissal...and speaking of terrible companies
