This... doesn't make sense? Why would Billboard request more sharing of "public" information? They are journalists. They want the SCOOP. The exclusive info.

And when you go to that twitter page, it's ALL about NJS/Danielle.

Looking at sources critically is becoming a lost art.

I love how so many people are scrambling over billboard asking for more information. I see armys in the replies like "stay out of korean business!!" Because they know what's happening is absolutely evil and deplorable, and don't want anyone looking deeper into it. This was always about "making BTS and the company look bad" nothing else.

ADOR is basically crushing Danielle's entire livelihood and dreams to set an example to every other k-pop artist who dares to speak out against their label.

To think all other girls can keep their contracts or are still negotiating but only Danielle gets the boot… just nasty and evil. I hope that poor girl has a strong support system around her. Thinking about the stress she must endure literally gives me anxiety.

I so hope everything works out for danielle.

How was that $33M claim even calculated? Like what a ridiculous amount. All because she sided with her former CEO whom she saw as a protective figure? And because she did some commercials? Thats absurdity.

I hope when Danielle appeals she is able to completely get dismissed or either lower the penalty significantly. The fact humans can do this to each other… Makes me sick.

I think it's less about making an example of her. K-Pop agencies have known for a long time that they can do what they want. There are many examples of idols being unfairly punished by their companies.

I think it's more about an abuse of power. HYBE really shouldn't be able to do this so easily, but that's less about NJ's situation specifically and more a symptom of power abuses not being corrected by the industry/Government long term.

I don't know enough about why Danielle was targeted over the other members, but the situation is very unfortunate.

they targeted her specifically because Danielle showed the most support to that former CEO of ADOR who was fired. and because Danielle allegedly breached contract by doing independent work outside of her contract.

The other girls showed support for the former CEO of ADOR but not to the extent danielle did I believe. I could be wrong tho.

And I'm sure it's false because no sane company would sign a contract with an idol who is still legally under another label.

It's just harassment and pettiness atp alexz2

Yup! This is the same thing they did to Min Heejin. Put out vague statements and spread rumors through the media that the hybe ghouls parrot (see them parroting Lee Jin Ho right now….) and even if it comes out as untrue, Danielle will still be labeled as a traitor that signed double contracts, or if she comes out to defend herself, the same ghouls will cry "bullying" because of their payola group's feelings. There's no way for these people to win, other than rolling over and let a company ruin their lives. It's absolutely insidious and sick, and honestly everyone who defends this company/their groups or is trying to ignore this, is utterly deplorable

From a reporter who looked into it:

TDLR: Hybe needed a scapegoat, someone to make an example of to set the record straight, and Danielle was the easiest target, she has been more in the spotlight doing outdoor activities (easier to create a narrative + gossip), and her mom is more vocal and also bilingual.

Quote

"While the war between Min Hee-jin and HYBE is still ongoing, NewJeans accepted the first-instance court ruling without filing an appeal... the ruling that said their exclusive contracts with HYBE (or rather, with ADOR under HYBE; I'll just call it HYBE) are still valid. All of the NewJeans members accepted it.

So people were like, "Then what does that mean?" It basically meant they were saying they would go back to HYBE. But within HYBE, at first they only planned to accept two members back, and they were wavering over what to do with the other three. Then more recently, this is what you're seeing now, they decided, "We need to cut Danielle."

Why single out just this one member? This is something I've investigated, but I can't give you exact details yet. There are probably multiple reasons mixed together. But there are a few prevailing interpretations.

First, because the NewJeans members are young, discussions are often conducted together with their parents, almost as if the parents are acting as representatives. There's a view that Danielle's parents may have been relatively more hardline.

Second, there's the idea that you need to make an example out of at least one person... grab one, so to speak, so you can line up the rest and bring them under control. From that perspective, they decided they needed to single someone out to "set discipline."

At some point in the past, Danielle posted a photo that gave off the nuance that she might be working on something together with certain people. Now, when all five NewJeans members did other activities or pursued independent moves, they did so as a group. But in this case, she was the only one who posted something like that on her own, so she kind of stood out that one time.

And based on that, this is just my own speculation, by the way, if they decided to latch onto that as concrete grounds, it would be incredibly easy to single out just one person. It becomes very convenient to frame it like, "Were you trying to work with other artists?" or "Were you trying to go to another producer?" That kind of narrative is easy to construct.

So from my perspective, they singled out Danielle first, and, why? You know "divide and rule," right? You break one person off, come down hard on them, and then show the remaining four, "If you step out of line, this is what happens," basically grabbing them by the collar to keep them in check.

This kind of thing has existed in the idol industry for a long time. At SM, for example, exclusive contracts used to be around 10 years, then after the JYJ incident they were changed to about 7 years. And when it starts to look like artists might not renew around the 7-year mark, companies don't exactly send them off nicely. That kind of agency-specific culture might also be at play here, layered on top of everything else.

In any case, it seems like Danielle was already marked, and that's why they may have gone after her over something else. That's why I think the likelihood that this was all planned has grown quite a bit."

Why so many Korean journalists bootlick Hybe:

"A reporter told me this: these days, one of the biggest goals for journalists is to get hired by HYBE. A lot of former journalists have joined HYBE's organization.

As a result, many problems have arisen. There has been an abundance of unfair, one-sided, promotional-style articles.

Given that HYBE's market capitalization now fluctuates between 11 and 12 trillion won, and that it wields global influence, its power is overwhelming... it is an absolute dominant force that pulls in almost everyone in the media like a black hole.

Because of this, what we're seeing is not normal distortion or standard truth-based reporting, but rather a strange pattern of copy-and-paste press-release journalism.

So people ask, "Why do you keep supporting NewJeans?"

But you have to understand that this is a fight taking place on an extremely, almost absurdly, tilted playing field, where simply speaking up means struggling uphill against enormous odds."
