Spotify is letting record labels influence personalized r...

"As we learn from this experiment, we'll carefully test expanding to other personalized areas of Spotify."…

Old article from 2020. It's not new.

Companies pay Spotify to have songs added to autoplay. Since Hybe is likely the only Kpop company doing it, if you are listening to Kpop, you are basically fed a Hybe song next.

Labels will initially be able to exert this 'Discovery Mode' influence in two areas: Autoplay tracks, which play after a Spotify user has completed listening to an album and/or playlist based on their prior usage [...]

It's frustrating how JYPE is the complete opposite of HYBE, especially in how they refuse to invest in Spotify whether it's playlisting or autoplay. Truly a useless companyrip

Which makes it more impressive for SKZ and TWICE being among the top 4 most streamed Kpop acts of all time - only behind BTS and BP clap3

And SM / Boa released Crazier as the lead. My new year's resolution is to let go of my frustration over this.

Following the court's final ruling in the lawsuit confirming the validity of the exclusive contracts, ADOR has held extensive discussions with Minji, Hanni, Danielle, and the families of the three members.

Hanni visited Korea with her family and engaged in long, in-depth conversations with ADOR. In the process, we revisited past events and took time to view matters objectively. After candid talks, Hanni decided to respect the court's ruling and continue with ADOR.

Minji is also in talks with ADOR, and discussions are ongoing to broaden mutual understanding.

In Danielle's case, we determined that it would be difficult to continue together as a NewJeans member and an ADOR artist, and today we notified her of the termination of her exclusive contract. In addition, we plan to pursue legal accountability for one member of Danielle's family and former CEO Min Hee Jin, who bear significant responsibility for precipitating this dispute and for NewJeans' departure and delayed return.

Through these conversations, ADOR learned that, over a long period, the members had been continuously exposed to distorted and biased information, which led to many misunderstandings about the company and ultimately to this dispute. The company and the artists agree that, to regain the love of fans and the public, it is necessary—even if it takes some time—to fully dispel these misunderstandings based on accurate facts. We have also agreed to find an opportunity to address the various controversies that arose during the dispute and are discussing the timing and manner.

ADOR will do its utmost to bring this matter to an amicable conclusion and to ensure that NewJeans can return to fans as soon as possible

It's a little depressing if you really think about it. HYBE really put Danielle through all under the pretense of wanting all 5 back for the courts when they've clearly decided from the start she was the one they would cut. That's extremely vindictive. I definitely think the remaining 3 confirmed and Minji if she comes back are going to be tortured mentally until 2029. Just makes me sick honestly

Honestly **** that company and all of their groups. This is beyond disgusting.

Citing violations of exclusive contract terms as grounds for termination would logically mean that all NewJeans members should be subject to termination. However, as HYBE appears to be targeting only Danielle, speculation is spreading throughout the industry that this constitutes a retaliatory contract termination.

Legal experts warn that such retaliatory action by HYBE could instead become a legal weakness. This is because, after HYBE won the lawsuit confirming the validity of the exclusive contracts against all five NewJeans members on October 30, the company promised the resumption of NewJeans' activities. At the time, HYBE stated, "All preparations for activities such as the release of a full-length NewJeans album have been completed," adding, "We will do our utmost, through discussions with the artists, to help them return to their fans." In simple terms, the concern is that HYBE's authority to maintain or terminate contracts is being perceived not as a means of "protecting" its artists, but as a tool of retaliation—thereby undermining the trust between HYBE and NewJeans that had been gradually stabilizing. One lawyer noted, "In 2024, the Supreme Court recognized 'breakdown of trust' due to opaque profit settlements as a legitimate ground for contract termination in the LOONA Chuu case." The lawyer added, "HYBE's approach—suggesting that trust has collapsed only with a specific individual—directly contradicts the Supreme Court's established legal doctrine on trust relationships and borders on a legal contradiction."

Another legal professional echoed this view, stating, "HYBE's selective disciplinary action is highly likely to be used as evidence unfavorable to HYBE when the court determines responsibility for the breakdown of trust."

So they spent a year in court fake crying about wanting the members back, and how they had plans for an album and tour, only to threaten them behind the scenes and split the group up? So they are going against the ruling they fought for, and proving what fans have been saying for a year now right? They are beyond reprehensible

From their statement it seems that they just notified her of this, meaning that there's a chance she'll find out from the media. This is all sooooo nasty. And people will still defend this. Crazy as hell.

I wonder what they mean about dispelling understandings. Are they going to force the girls to go against Dani/MHJ? To "dispel" any "misunderstandings" with a public humiliation/submission ritual?
