Plus it's a summer/love themed mini album, so maybe they thought a dark concept song wouldn't fit so well. I also feel like they are playing off the success of Hello with this mini, since that was a bright emotional concept, rather than dark.

 

It would be awesome to see her explore that though...who knows maybe SM is planning a switch up with JOY's 2nd mini and she'll unleash her famous "sexy dynamite"

it's 100% because of branding reasons, which is probably why it meshes so much with Hello sound-wise. however, that's exactly what leaves me disappointed a little since i've been waiting so long for her original songs and how they would sound (and her creative involvement everywhere has been excellent). something ala one of her favs Lolo Zouai would have also been so her and given a more unique space for her voice to shine as opposed to something purely summery.

 

anyways, it's only been snippets so it'll def sound different in full and i hope SM gives her that 2nd ep very soon after this considering they've been holding her off OG music for so long.
