Ashlee Simpson - thoughts?

Featured Replies

as we all know by know (or maybe you're about to find out), Ashlee's career was forever stained by her infamous SNL performance where she was caught using a vocal track (miming), receiving huge backlash from the critics and the public at a very early stage of her career.

Ashlee managed to rebound with her sophomore effort, scoring two hits (Boyfriend and L.O.V.E.) that sadly, were not enough to keep her momentum by the moment her third record dropped.

after tasting success, Ashlee came back with a psychedelic pop record along the single Outta My Head (Ay Ya Ya) and things got rocky again after its under performance.

What do you think could've been of her career had it now been overshadowed by these moments? was Ashlee Simpson destined for greatness?

All her ass had to do was sing live:gaycat6:

Sis literally had the world in her hands.

Well... yeah... that was the first thing I thought of when I saw the thread title...:suburban:

There was a 3 year gap between Ashlee's second and third album. I don't think she was big enough to be gone that long. I remember wondering what happened to her at one point

Not sure she would've reached Britney heights if SNL-gate didn't happen :rip:

Boys from Bittersweet World still sounds fresh and needs to go viral.

I loved her music, back in the day,  but she was not made to last

Her singles are such jams! I only got to her a few months ago. La La, LOVE, Boyfriend, Outta My Head & ofc the legendary Pieces of Me >>>>> :katie2:

A majorly mismanaged victim of music tribalism. She never had a chance but deserved a better one.

Her first album is good, but that's it. She never delivered after that, and that SNL performance messed up her future chances.

I used to think she was massive when I was younger and later I came across her SNL performance and my god I will always wonder why she just randomly started dancing during the incident instead of telling them to cut the music. Looking back, I don't think Outta My Head was as strong a comeback for her to fully bounce back even though I loved it. She kinda gave Avril Lavigne vibes, who was much more active at the time
