I was listening to the new Rosé and Bruno Mars song and I realised they're the latest in a long line of singers to reuse the exact same melody

is it that common chord progression? it's not the same melody but it's a very used simple chord progression that you'd have to actively avoid using 

I don't think APT really fits here tbh. Many other examples though - definitely a common pop progression.

I feel like this is probably some common chord progression that has existed for centuries.  Why do people use it?  Well it sounds nice.  Why not? 

Reduce, reuse, recycle has been the motto in the music industry for the last few years, especially now that nostalgia has become a bankable thing

It's just a super common chord progression so I'm never too surprised it's in so many songs 

I knew it sounded familiar 

 

 

 

 

Poppy's is better tho

I honestly love this chord progression and love randomly running into songs that use it. It sounds so timeless

I'm usually annoyed by blantant copypasting, but in this case, I really don't mind it. You can't really say that it "belongs" to anyone, it's always been there. And it sounds great most of the time, too.
