How does this song have 1B streams??

Featured Replies

I've never even heard of the artist's name, the song title, a snippet of the audio on TikTok, nothing — and yet somehow it stands at 1,059,263,008 streams as of this threads creation   :deadbanana2:

Nah this doesn't fly as an excuse for me. I am specifically on a music forum, tuned into charts and streaming data. Even songs I haven't heard to this very day (like Lose Control by Teddy Swims or Someone You Loved by Lewis Capaldi) are titles I recognize in passing.  I've never heard a "Jelly Roll" song in my life but the fact he's about to be #1 on next weeks Billboard 200 isn't surprising to me because his name has been prominent for a few years now, despite me not tuning into his releases.

The song in the OP? No excuse. Even Million Dollar Baby by Tommy Richman or Golden Hour by JVKE are better example of ACTUALLY viral TikTok hits that I avoid like the plague.

I also never heard this song in my life too but it somehow has 1b streams on spotify

Don't be obtuse, there's other songs I haven't heard (like Teddy Swims Lose Control) that were massive enough to at least recognize the name and understand them reaching a billion streams even without ever having heard them. The song in the OP does not qualify :gaycat6:

Some of y'all weren't on Tiktok during 2019-2020 era and it shows. You just had to be there idk

You're on a pop forum focused on pop girls. The interest in them is automatically low. The focus of streaming data discussion etc,. is... on pop girls, and even outside of that, more tuned into the top 1%.

You just aren't going to know every single song with 1B spotify streams and that is okay lmao, it simply missed you.

never heard it but i rarely use tiktok (i prefer reels) so maybe that's why

Same. The song in the OP is cue though, I understand how it would go viral.

I think there's a lot of songs now that are still under the radar despite having millions of streams. Music preference is so varied nowadays.

just because you're on a music forum and interested in the music industry and market doesnt mean you have to know every single songs and artists :deadbanana4:

that song was viral and it's always constantly on the viral songs playlist... i don't listen to it but i've encountered it a loooot of times

I have never used TikTok but apparently that song was popular on there in 2020 especially a sped up version, so that explains why it has so many streams.
