she seems nice, water is good but the whole album feels like water pt.2-13 for me, nothing unique about her. i don't mind her tho, hopefully she can score many more hits but rn it seems like she's gonna be an another one hit wonder

This was the first thing I thought when I saw the video for Been Thinking. It's essentially her Pon De Replay. Her star quality, fresh sound and choreo…she deserves to be massive. Hopefully her injury doesn't throw off her momentum too much.

 

Truthfully it's hard to picture anyone emerging as a massive cultural touchstone in this era of saturation and of judgment. People either say "I've never heard of her" or "she'll NEVER be Rihanna." Of course she won't, no one will be. But Tyla is gorgeous and talented and charismatic and could definitely use that to build an empire of her own.

Idts. This girl is giving MOTS/AGLM but I don't think she has the nerve to pull off a GGGB/Rated R/Anti. Rihanna's biggest talent is that she's a canvas and can effortlessly fit in any aesthetic, vibe and sound.

 

Everything's a little too calculated nowadays for a new artist to really be given the chance to organically evolve.

far from it .. her water song was cute but the 2 singles afterwards sound exactly like water.  Rihanna came and dropped hit after hit after hit and not one of them sounded the same.  even her first two albums sure some of the Reggae sounds started to get boring by the end of A Girl Like Me but it still was something different and I still love listening to A Girl Like me. 

I doubt anyone will ever replace Rihanna .. she was one of a kind tbh.

We can say that now, but Rihanna was looking very one hit wonder-ish when she first came out   She had a very specific sound when she came out too, it just evolved (like what happens with most artists).
