It's high key one of the most interesting songs on the album. She better perform the hell out of that song. If it goes in the Slow Down pile she'll have some explaining to do

Hmm she just doesn't seem to like her more poppier leaning material lolol. I really do think the album would be much more midtempo heavy if she could do what she wanted 100%.

Great score! :clap3:. This album deserves it.

Okay but the actual review was kinda weird… the comparisons they made, and they kept basically calling the album safe and generic. Ion like that….

It's Pitchfork. They're never totally positive about anyone. This is one of the highest review scores they have given to a pop/r&b girl this year. I was actually worried after they gave Billie a 6.8 and she had one of the best albums this year

A lot better than I expected since Pitchfork seems to be leaning back towards giving lower scores to be edgy lately and I thought they might drag because the lyrics aren't pretentious "deep enough".

Cause it literally is safe and generic...they arent lying lol.

Its still a positive review

Normani cleared with that 7.4 pitchfork score

Also are we gonna get Normani on the top 10 of bb200 ? coz all yours is that girl wow

Yea that is weird. Cuz idk anyone who is singing about grip or making songs like Big boy. Also I hate the word generic cause its so vague

hope we get some promo lined up soon (radio, playlisting, performances, etc)

'Whether they admit it or not, every former girl-group singer wants their solo debut to hit like "2003 Beyoncé performing 'Crazy in Love.'" Four years ago, Normani came remarkably close with the sprightly R&B track "Motivation."'

I had to close it after they opened with this :toofunny3:

Flop Motivation being compared to one of the biggest, best, and most impactful songs of the century… what are they smoking over at Pitchfork?

she kinda spilled with little secrets i fear :emofish:

it's my least fave track on the album

Right! She had a very "it's cute or whatever" attitude towards Take My Time too.

Not to sound dramatic, but it was a little concerning lol.

Since she's so 90s / 00s obsessed, I wish she'd be a bit more PC about her preferences like the media-trained acts of that time. Cus she's pretty consistently shading the songs that would garner her the biggest success commercially lol. It'll just be odd seeing her have to push one of those songs should they randomly catch on knowing she doesn't care for em that much and having receipts of her saying that in 4k lol. Like Beyonce stanning Daddy or Me, Myself, & I and being meh towards Crazy in Love and Baby Boy.

She legit seems to be this slow jam, alt-R&B loving girl, whose biggest strength is choreographed performance, and who has an audience hungry for uptempos. It will be really interesting to see how it all levels out long-term.

So, it was going to be the single instead of 1:59?

not necessarily. maybe they wanted to push it soon after 1:59. no idea.

All Yours, Insomnia & Little Secrets are the trinity :jonny6:

Lights On is so good too

if your top 3 doesn't have lights on and tantrums, you're doing it wrong. :bird:
