She did WHAT?! Are there any recordings of those songs, I beg.

She shared snippets of songs that didn't make the cut on her latest IG lives (those are saved in her reels)

  • I honestly blame the release strategy. Releasing 2/3 of ur album 6 months before your album isn't a smart choice imo. Especially when you're trying to establish yourself as an artist. I understand try

I don't get what people are saying about her vocals. She's an incredibly emotive vocalist and I love how every song of hers is STACKED with vocal layers

On track to debut at #3 on the UK Albums Chart, behind Eminem and Travis.

Giving them a listen! I hope she puts them out in some form, at least some of them. I agree with your point about Astronaut, by the way, her biggest issue has always been that her songs are too samey. Some of the snippets she previewed sound like more of the same, but there's real gems there too.

What's everybody's current favorites from the album? Mine are Hiding Alone (this needs to get pushed on NMF), So Fast, and Hole in My Pocket (#1 in my heart since day one).

TFF is the one - what a euphoric bop!

No one in pop quite nails the "huge euphoric vibe" quite like Griff. Her songs do get samey, for sure, but she's really found a slight niche for herself that just works.

For me - Pillow In My Arms is the one. It reminds me a lot of some of her best (imo) songs she previously released - Walk, One Night, Forgive Myself & Shade of Yellow.
Now i hope in between those songs we get tonight, there's at least one more song like this.  :allears:

By the way, i just heard an older scrap titled Did They Really Go To The Moon (l-worded recently) and now i need Griff to do some R&B tracks cuz it really fits her style

I like everything about it except for the concept. It's so cheesy and childish lol

Just heard the rest of the songs and although i love a lot of what was released, some of those songs should've stayed in the vault cuz they're undercooked (which is weird cuz she was also in the studio with a lot of great producers / songwriters like Oscar Gorres, The Monsters & Strangerz, Ariel Rechtshaid, Julia Michaels yet none of those songs made the cut). Overall the One Foot In Front Of The Other mixtape >>>>>>>>> Vertigo (album)

My current ranking:

1. Tears For Fun (yeah, this song is incredible. A career highlight)

2. Pillow In My Arms

3. Anything

4. Miss Me Too

5. Hole In My Pocket

6. 19th Hour

7. Vertigo

8. Hiding Alone (weird production / instrumental although it's a good song overall)

9. Into The Walls

10. Cycles

11. Where Did You Go (great concept but unfortunately it doesn't go anywhere)

12. Everlasting (great concept as well, that's kinda it)

13. So Fast (boring)

14. Astronaut

The recent reject that surfaced - "Wrong Direction" is better than like 8 of the songs that made the cut :suburban:

Also, she needs to release her version of Minute asap, on a deluxe of Vertigo or something cuz that's a hit that got away (10x better than anything on the album), like how do you create such pop perfection and you gave it away to Kim Petras… Her label sabotaged her with that… It doesn't make any other sense :skull:

Maybe it wasn't her choice to give that one away? It's one of the few songs she co-wrote w/ big songwriters/producers.

Can't believe it's finally here after 3 years of waiting.

Loved revisiting the pre-released material. Some real faves in there, but also some I wasn't too familiar with and was glad to hear again.

Getting in to the new stuff now! :duca:

Hiding Alone is such a basic H&M indie-pop song but it sounds so fresh coming from her because as much as i enjoy her music, it kinda gets very same-y with the production and especially the vocal delivery.

I'm glad I waited for the whole record to drop. I'm not really familiar with Griff but this is a cute debut album, there's a few skips but overall, this is nice!

She's got a lovely voice and the production is quite interesting while also being Pop... Also, I prefer the HMV alt cover, I'm not a big fan of the original cover.

Cute album. I like the more stripped down production on "So Fast", it suits her well.

God TFF is just SO goddamn good. I can't :weeps:She doesn't always nail it, but when she does, she DOES!

Really enjoy the album. I was such a vocal hater of some of the EP songs but everything has grown on me. There's nothing revolutionary about this album and she should have used some other songs instead methinks, but it's a fabulous debut. I can't wait to see where she goes next (if we ever get a second album :rip:)

I've been enjoying a few songs from the EPs already but I'm pleasantly surprised by how great these songs are together as a complete body of work. The boppier tracks are very The Kick by Foxes-coded as well.

The album is currently at #7 (new peak) on iTunes UK & at #37 (new peak) on iTunes US

Can't wait to hear the bonus tracks. Also, the HMV cover is gorg. I wish it were the main that'll be used everywhere; much more artistic and fitting of the concept

Wonder what happened with all of the songs she had with big name producers and songwriters? Too expensive?

yeah it's genuinely maddening how they had THIS and only made it an alt cover...

it's such a statement!

So pretty. Oh well, she's there in MY library :alexz:

I had lots of expectations for this project, not that impressed at first listen

I actually really really love this album, while it's cohesive it doesn't feel samey at all for me, the bops are amazing, the ballads are gorgeous (with the exception of Astronaut, but I replaced it with the HMV version anyway) and I feel like most of you would appreciate it so much more had she not released 9 songs months before even announcing the album

with that being said though, wtf happened to all the songs she made with other producers? I was super excited for the OZGO / Ariel / Monsters & Strangerz tracks and they're nowhere to be seen, when she went live she said she would only play self produced outtakes as she didn't know if the producers of any other sings she made would be mad, wouldn't be surprised if the label blocked their release
