Honestly, people are coming in here saying that TTPD is basic and repetitive, basically being a Midnights 2.0 when that is completely a LIE.

 

Sure, the album may have the same sonic essence but the production, melodies, vocal performance, and layering are so much better here. She's also experimenting with different alt. rock sounds she had never done before. Mignights was clearly more of a pop album, with a lot of potential singles. This one is more experimental/artistic. 

 

People who are saying she doesn't do melodies should listen to I Can do with a Broken Heart.

 

 

It's like she just took the best elements from Midnights and expanded on them.

 

Besides that, the album has been getting critical acclaim so, it's not just my opinion.

PS: I do admit that the "Anthology" part sounds like Everklore 3.0 and it's too repetitive fro me to care. IDK why fans are claiming it's the best part .

Honestly I can see why people don't like it but I absolutely love it. Really the only problem is people who for some reason feel important enough to plaster their hate everywhere. Over and over again. Like we get it. You don't like the album. 

objectively the quality of the album doesnt match the numbers. she has better material.

We hate her because she is ****. And she proves us right every single time. 

Here's a crazy idea: 

log out of any media outlets, and that way you enjoy the album and don't see any negative criticisms of your fave. They don't exist!

Oh the vast majority of their comments are spurred by a deep sense of insecurity and the continual failure of their respective fave to measure up to Taylor. They can attempt arguments on qualitative lines (though they often fall flat), but it's all coming from a place of insecurity and envy. 

 

The Tortured Poets Department will be curbstomping their fave's most recent album's total sales in its first week, and that fact makes them apoplectic. I enjoy watching it too, because the stink of desperation abounds and it's funny to watch them flail about for a narrative to latch onto that just never materializes. 

 

The only thing I'm pressed about is that even lifelong fans of Taylor aren't allowed to say TTPD sucks 

 

Some of my all time fave albums include 1989 and Folklore. It's depressing to know we'll never get that level of quality again because this fanbase and apparently a lot of major US publications have signed some blood oath to defend and celebrate every f*cking thing she does, even when it's objectively stale and not very good.

I think you are being oversensitive. People are allowed to share their opinions on the album. Why do you post critic reviews and not let people with brains critique the album themselves? It really does sound derivative of everything she's ever done

Have you ever thought if someone you hated won as often and to the extent Taylor always does? Sometimes I do feel bad for the OTH. You can tell how miserable they are

every opinion can be crafted in a way that it sparks conversation. This thread's title is destructive.

Yes I mean, if this same album was made by someone like Lana, Florence or any other indie artist people would be praising it.

It's ok to not like something we all have our own preferences. But it baffles me how can anyone be so loud about disliking/hating something. Like we get it, you think it's not good and it's 'basic' and it all 'sound the same'. But do we need to be reminded of your opinion every damn time? And why do you all purposely enter or even create a thread just to spread your hate/dislike?

i mean, the album sounds good but that don't means the album is not pretty similar to midnights

thats ok to the fans but i REALLY wanna taylor move forward to synthpop
