Gaga had a good run, but movies have kind of kept her career afloat since 2018. Shallow was her last smash and that was also back in 2018. Ariana might win an Oscar for Wicked and it will most likely outgross every Gaga film (JFad is giving 500mil globally)

Ariana has 0 chances at winning the Oscar for Wicked, and I doubt it will be bigger than JFAD.

But yeah her music career is probably bigger now.

Wicked's biggest songs are going to be those from the OG musicals, I don't see a new song overshadowing Defying Gravity and the others

Movie remakes of popular Broadway shows rarely win Best Original Song. The new songs are always overshadowed by the original Broadway songs. No song made for that movie will surpass Defying Gravity 

Musically, yes. Gaga overall still has a bigger presence in Hollywood and pop culture though, but that's also because Ariana is very lowkey as a celebrity and artist, these days she just releases stuff and hides. 

if Wicked does well then it wouldn't be debatable anymore. 

Stefani still has more albums sales/units (85M vs 75M), more tour gross, and a much bigger peak so technically no, she is still bigger overall.

 

That said, Ariana is much more consistent and she is a bigger hitmaker, even if Gaga's classics and biggest hits were bigger. You could say that she has been bigger than Gaga musically for the last decade though.

 

Movies wise, if Wicked is a success and Ariana's performance is acclaimed then Ms Gagger has serious competition from her fellow Italian.

In music? Yeah probably. If Beyoncé has proven anything this past year its consistent success > one huge peak. Gaga has proven herself in the film industry so we'll see how Ariana does with Wicked this year. Both have incredibly successful careers and occupy their own lane so no need to compare.

"Not yet" all of Ariana's eras have been big successes. The Fame, Born This Way, and if ASIB is counts, are the only big Gaga eras. ARTPOP, Joanne, and Chromatica are not that successful at all. 

In terms of consistent success and commercial longevity yes, but Gaga has her beat in Impact.

It's quite difficult to determine... Gaga reached such monumental heights that she's a more prominent figure in many countries where Ariana isn't... But I'm not entirely sure

Musically speaking I'd say that Ariana is slightly above yes. Though Gaga feels like a bigger celebrity
