This is exactly my problem too jdjdsj when they said Kevin Parker, I was expecting Dua's take on Tame Impala, big epic psychedelic pop songs and instead it all just feels like an attempt to make radio friendly pop with very minimal psychedelic influence.

 

I see your point and I kinda agree, but tbh its our fault for expecting a Currents type of album/production from a mainstream pop artist. I adjusted my expectations after Houdini (which is still excellent)

generric yes but its better than training season. It may be a hit in UK but i dont know about the US, its very current calvin harris mixed with daft punk

Instead it's just Kevin Parker desperately trying to make a radio hit without knowing how to and Dua not taking the reins, or maybe she is and that's the problem, idk

Love you sis but you've had a mini-meltdown every single time Dua has released something this era, then you come around and start liking it.. maybe just give it some time or at least let the song drop first Houdini is one of her best songs ever and Training Season is great too, certainly better than at least half of FN

I… love it so far? Not getting the mixed reactions especially when there's Ava Max promo going on in here  I really haven't had any complaints this era, while with FN I was excited after the first DSN performance and then didn't feel any excitement till the album dropped and I heard Levitating. The rest of the album grew on me over time to become one of my favorites ever, but everything this era has been so instant for me. 

 

Houdini > Illusion > Don't Start Now > Training Season > Future Nostalgia > Physical for me so far. We'll see if Illusion delivers on what i'm getting from the snippet, but to me it sounds like a better Hallucinate so far. 

Houdini >  Illusion (30s snippet) > Training Season

Houdini > TS

Houdini > every song she ever released + every song released in 2023 + 2024 (until now)

If y'all still expecting Future Nostalgias on her third studio album maybe consider unstanning(? 

Those expectations y'all have both sonically and chart-wise are not healthy

houdini is looking to be the best song by far, maybe the album tracks will be a bit less generic

I can see this doing better than Training Season, the "ooo"s are addicting and the semi-baby voice is trendy. But can her stans stop pretending this is some experimental psychedelic massive-departure from her previous sound era
